The Agora team works in a unique campus of architectural gems, including National landmarks, that reflect our company's long-term commitment to preservation, craftsmanship, and community.We are seeking an experienced Facilities Director to lead the stewardship, maintenance, and capital improvements for our historic buildings. This is a highly visible role for a candidate with technical expertise, operational discipline, and a deep appreciation for historic preservation.This role will involve the following:Facilities OperationsOversee preventative maintenance, repairs, and building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and life safety.Ensure all buildings are well cleaned, safe, and operating at a high standard for employees and visitors.Respond to urgent maintenance issues when needed and coordinate appropriate solutions.Leadership & Team ManagementLead, mentor, and develop a facilities and housekeeping team of 7–10 employees.Assign and prioritize daily maintenance, custodial, and repair responsibilities.Foster a culture of accountability, responsiveness and quality work.Manage employee performance including hiring and termination decisions.Historic Preservation & ComplianceMaintain and preserve the integrity of our historic properties inside and out.Coordinate restoration and renovation work in compliance with local preservation guidelines.Obtain historic approvals and permit submissions as needed. Experience with CHAP or similar historic preservation application process is preferred but not required.Contractor & Vendor ManagementSolicit and evaluate bids for maintenance and capital projects.Select, negotiate with, and oversee contractors and service providers.Ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and to specification.Budgeting & Capital ProjectsPrepare and manage annual operating and capital budgets for various properties.Track expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.Work in collaboration with senior leadership and shareholders on major renovation and capital improvement initiatives.Communication & ReportingProvide regular updates to executives and stakeholders.Maintain clear documentation, project plans, and status reports.Be a professional and responsive point of contact for external partnersWho We're Looking For10+ years in property management, building operations, the building trades, and/or construction managementExperience with historic properties highly desiredProven management experience with vendors as well as facilities and housekeeping teams.Strong working knowledge of one or more trades such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC.Experience with contractor bidding, vendor negotiations, and project oversight.Proven budget and financial management skills.Experience working with executives, ownership groups, or shareholders.Good written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to delegate effectively and hold team members accountable.Experience with Baltimore historic permitting and CHAP approvals is stronglyPreferred QualificationsExperience managing restoration or adaptive reuse projects in landmark buildings.Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, a related field or equivalent experienceProfessional certifications such as CFM, FMP, or CPM.Compensation Range – $110K – 120KWhat We OfferMedical, vision, and dental insurance plans401(k) plan with employer matchingGenerous vacation time and paid holidaysCasual dress codeHighly flexible on-site environmentLocationBaltimore, Maryland (Mount Vernon neighborhood)Employment TypeFull-time, on-siteEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
