Performs difficult skilled human support work overseeing a variety of recreation programs, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Public Services Director. Continuous supervision is exercised over all personnel within the team.Job DutiesOversees the daily function and activities of all youth and adult activities; plans staff work schedules.Oversees the grounds maintenance crew.Plans, organizes, supervises, and promotes youth and adult activities.Schedules games and rosters.Recruits and trains coaches, officials, and scorekeepers.Assists with program budget.Reviews departmental policies and makes changes and recommendations; reviews budget and revenue reports; coordinates with Community Service Work Program.Maintains safety records and submits necessary requests for servicing and maintenance of grounds.Performs other assigned duties.Position QualificationsThorough knowledge of the principles, rules, materials, and equipment required for a variety of recreational activities.Ability to instruct participants.Thorough knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of public recreation.General knowledge of first aid practices and techniques.Ability to adhere to program standards and objectives outlined by department executive.Ability to resolve disputes with firmness and impartiality.Ability to meet and deal tactfully with the public.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the public.Education, Experience and Supplemental InformationBachelor's degree in business administration, human services, or related field and considerable experience in human services or equivalent.Three to five (3-5) years of experience in related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.Valid driver's licenseCPR/First Aid within six months of hire.Water Safety Instruction Certification within one year of hire.Equal Opportunity StatementDare County provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetics.Position may require a background check that may include: criminal, credit, motor vehicle, education, and sexual offender registry or based on job requirements.
