The Licensed Veterinary Technician is a part of the Canine Wellness and Support (CWS) mission in Winchester, Virginia working within our AAHA-accredited hospital. The Veterinary Technician should be able to work independently with minimal supervision to provide exceptional care for an in-house working canine population. Communication skills and ability to adapt in high stress situations are a must for this position. The Veterinary Technician may travel and work both nationally and internationally, for extended periods, in austere and/or challenging locations. The environment provided within the CWS family is one of work/life balance with an emphasis on quality medicine.Responsibilities:Under the direction of a licensed veterinarian, treat canines for various diseases/injuries and provide preventative/maintenance care (e.g., vaccinations, laboratory sample collection, etc.)Utilizing in-house imaging modalities, such as digital radiographs, and ultrasound; perform the studies and assist with the interpretation of resultsPerform training and present veterinary information to host-nation veterinary personnel, canine handlers, trainers, and other stakeholders in regard to injury triage and prevention, as well as zoonosesUsing a cloud-based, working-dog-specific electronic medical record system, maintain veterinary records, generate relevant reports, and track necessary dataProvide veterinary expertise and inspections for facilities used to kennel Working Dog populationsEffectively work in a team-based environment while also maintaining the ability to work independentlyEffectively communicate and consult with other veterinary teams supporting canine missions in remote locationsQualifications:Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or a current Veterinary Technician Certificate from an accredited universityPossess one or more of the following in at least one U.S. State:Active Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) licenseActive Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) licenseActive Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) licenseOther nationally recognized animal technology licenses and certifications (e.g., Laboratory Animal Technician, Laboratory Animal Technologist, etc.)Be a U.S. Citizen and possess a valid U.S. PassportPossess, or be able to obtain, a minimum SECRET level clearanceMinimum of two (2) years of experience as a Veterinary Technician in the United States Military or civilian private practiceExperience in specialty, emergency critical care or surgical/anesthesia practicesAttention to detailExcellent oral and written interpersonal communication skills; ability to efficiently communicate and teach foreign individualsAble to work independently with little to no immediate supervisionAble to collaborate with team members at all levels of leadershipEffectively communicate and consult with other veterinary teams supporting canine missions in remote locationsStarting pay $31.25 hourlyBenefits:Medical, dental, vision, basic life, AD&D, and disability insuranceEnrollment in our company's 401(k)plan, subject to eligibility requirementsHolidays and a competitive Paid Time Off Plan.Allied Universal is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
