Automation Systems Engineer

About the Role As an Automation Systems Engineer, you will serve as the technical backbone for our production environment, ensuring that our manufacturing systems operate at peak efficiency. You will leverage your expertise in PLC programming and industrial control logic to drive continuous improvement, optimize machine performance, and lead critical engineering projects that directly impact our manufacturing throughput. Responsibilities Design, implement, and debug sophisticated control logic to enhance the reliability and performance of complex industrial machinery. Lead end-to-end engineering projects, managing everything from initial design and cost estimation to final installation and startup. Provide expert-level technical guidance to maintenance teams, facilitating the rapid troubleshooting of AC/DC drive systems and electronic components. Oversee external contractors and engineering firms to ensure all electrical installations and repairs meet rigorous safety and quality standards. Analyze electrical schematics and utilize advanced diagnostic tools to resolve equipment failures and minimize production downtime. Maintain robust network communications and ensure secure, up-to-date backups of all critical machine software and control programs. Collaborate with leadership to forecast capital expenditures and identify opportunities for technology upgrades that improve operational efficiency. Qualifications Required Skills Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline. 5+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within continuous process industries. Advanced proficiency in PLC programming and industrial control systems. Strong capability in CAD software for electrical design and documentation. Preferred Skills Experience with Wonderware or similar HMI/SCADA software platforms. Proven track record of managing cross-functional projects and external vendors. Deep understanding of wire and cable manufacturing processes or similar high-speed production lines.
