Together, we're improving health and improving lives.Labcorp is seeking a Lead Software Development Engineer to join our Corporate IT application development team in Durham, NC.Work ScheduleThis is a full time, exempt (salaried) position assigned to a First Shift schedule, with standard business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in your local time zone. Business needs may occasionally require flexibility in work hours, including earlier, later, or additional hours, with reasonable notice provided when possible.Applicants who live within 35 miles of Durham, NC location will follow a hybrid schedule. This schedule includes a minimum of three in-office days per week at an assigned location, supporting both collaboration and flexibility.Job ResponsibilitiesLead design and development of scalable enterprise applications and RESTful APIsDefine and enforce architecture standards for microservices and cloud-native platformsDevelop Full Stack services in Polyglot fashionDevelop AI stack architecture working with various model serving platforms, e.g. TensorFlow ServingCollaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders in Agile teamsAutomate build, test, and deployment pipelines using CI/CD toolsImplement test-driven development and maintain high code quality standardsMentor engineers and provide technical leadership across teamsLeverage AI tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor, Replit) to improve development productivity and qualityMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s Degree10 or more years' of experience in software development10 or more years' of experience developing enterprise applications using Java or Python3 or more years' of experience designing large-scale application architectures3 or more years' of experience building RESTful APIs and microservices3 or more years' of experience working with Spring Framework (Spring Boot, MVC, Security)3 or more years' of experience using CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Maven or Gradle, Git)2 or more years' of Machine Learning Ops (ML Ops) design, development and implementation.1 or more years' of experience working with cloud platforms (AWS or similar)Preferred Qualifications2 or more years' of experience with containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes or OpenShift)2 or more years' of experience with messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar)2 or more years' of experience of working with messaging services such as SQS, Kafka, IBM MQ, or Kinesis.2 or more years' of experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)1 or more years' of experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB or DynamoDB)1 or more years' of experience building front-end applications using Angular, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript1 or more years' of experience integrating AI tools into software development workflows1 or more years' of experience with automated testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito)Current or prior Labcorp experienceAdditional Job StandardsStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsEffective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work in Agile/Scrum environmentsAbility to collaborate across cross-functional teamsCapability to mentor and guide engineering teamsAbout LabcorpAt Labcorp, we are committed to improving health and improving lives through innovation in science and technology.
