Fleet Manager

The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the physical conditions and regulatory compliance of the PCM’s vehicles and equipment. The role focuses on managing the day-to-day operations of a group of in-house mechanics, outsourced to 3rd party vendors, and ensuring standard preventative maintenance and inspections take place. The incumbent also is responsible for managing the fleet’s paperwork including registrations and DOT regulatory documents, DVIRs and repair records, and managing asset records in the ERP and PCM’s telematics system. Personnel Work with the in-house team of three mechanics to build and develop skills. Interview, hire, and train new mechanics as needed. Supervise, coach, and evaluate the mechanics staff. Plan, prioritize, and direct the workload of mechanic staff to ensure critical repairs are prioritized and work is executed efficiently. Review, approve, and submit time weekly to payroll through HRIS. Address and correct discrepancies in labor hours with the employee and payroll administrator. Balance leave requests to prevent coverage gaps. Identify areas for training to improve skills Promote a culture of safety and collaboration. Repair and Maintenance Direct repair, service, and maintenance of company vehicles and equipment, using in-house mechanic staff or outsourcing to approved vendors, as appropriate. Develop and maintain outside vendor and service provider relationships. Support mechanics in acquiring parts and supplies when needed. Policy, Procedure, Standards and Compliance Recommend, develop, evaluate, and maintain efficient shop performance standards, procedures, and policies for completeness, accuracy, and efficiency. Recommend, develop, evaluate, and maintain effective fleet maintenance procedures, policies, and standards. Ensure compliance with all DOT requirements related to the fleet, including performing annual COMAR inspections. Ensure shop and equipment are maintained, safe, and in good working order. Support bi-monthly gate checks with the Safety Manager and Maintenance team (5:30 AM-7:00 AM) Information Management Update asset records in PCM’s ERP. Add and remove assets from PCM’s telematics system. Track and execute renewal of vehicle registrations and ensure updated paperwork is in vehicles. Process and authorize vendor invoices for payment. Facilitate the purchase, transfer, and disposal process. Support regulatory reporting (i.e. IFTA, Repair Orders, etc.) Internal Communication Meet regularly with Service Line leaders to discuss trends in asset repairs and observe causes of damage to reduce downtime and damage to equipment. Meet with other key business stakeholders to address issues with equipment or execution. Provide information to the Controller detailing large repairs to support record keeping and monthly close process. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma and/or a combination of education, experience and training. Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record, meeting company standards for violations and accidents. Computer proficient, particularly in Excel and Word Familiarity with DOT compliance, OSHA shop safety regulations and state & federal environmental laws concern-ing the handling of hazardous materials routinely used in the repair and maintenance of vehicles Preferred Qualifications Bilingual English and Spanish 4 years’ experience managing and supervising fleet & equipment maintenance Construction or trade service vehicle experience Skills/Abilities Good organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks Ability to identify and analyze problems, develop cost-efficient and timely solutions Demonstrated experience in time management, sound judgment and meeting deadlines PCM Services is a commercial contractor in Beltsville, MD, which performs work across the DC/Baltimore metro areas and seeks an organized and energized team player as Fleet Manager in the Maintenance Division.
