Part-Time Litigation & General Practice Paralegal

Position OverviewSound Impact Law, PLLC is seeking a part-time Litigation and General Practice Paralegal to support a growing caseload across civil litigation and business matters. This role is integral to maintaining case flow, managing deadlines, and supporting document-intensive work from pre-litigation through trial.This position is ideal for a paralegal who enjoys the pace and structure of litigation, is highly organized, and is comfortable working in a lean, collaborative environment. The role involves both litigation support and general practice assistance, with an emphasis on keeping matters moving efficiently and accurately.We are a small but growing firm, building intentionally and sustainably. While this role is part-time, there is potential for increased responsibility and hours over time as the firm grows, with future full-time opportunities possible. Candidates who grow with the firm will receive strong consideration for those opportunities if interested.Core ResponsibilitiesAssist with case management from pre-litigation through trialDraft, format, and file pleadings, motions, and correspondenceSupport motions practice, including document preparation, exhibits, and filing coordinationAssist with discovery, including drafting, organizing, and managing document productionPrepare and organize materials for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial, including exhibits, binders, and supporting documentsFile documents across various court and agency e-filing systems, ensuring compliance with jurisdiction-specific rules and proceduresCoordinate process serving, including preparing service packets, communicating with process servers, and tracking service statusMaintain case calendars, deadlines, and related systemsManage and organize case files and recordsCommunicate with clients in a professional and responsive manner, including coordinating information and assisting with case-related follow-upAssist with general administrative and operational tasks to support firm workflowRole ExpectationsStrong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple active matters simultaneouslyHigh attention to detail in document formatting, filing, and deadline trackingSound judgment in handling client communications and case-related tasksWorking knowledge of civil rules of procedure and litigation timelinesAbility to work independently while coordinating with attorneys on case strategy and workflowComfort working in a dynamic small firm environment with evolving needsReliability in meeting deadlines and supporting scheduled litigation eventsRequired ExperiencePrior paralegal experience in civil litigationDemonstrated experience supporting matters from pre-filing through litigation and trial preparationExperience filing pleadings and legal documents through various court and administrative e-filing portalsFamiliarity with process serving procedures, including coordinating and tracking service of processWorking knowledge of civil rules of procedureExperience assisting attorneys with hearing and trial preparationStrong written and verbal communication skills, including client-facing communicationPreferred Experience ·  Paralegal certificate or relevant advanced degreeExperience with motions practice support and complex filingsFamiliarity with administrative law proceedingsExperience across a range of civil matters, such as business disputes, construction, employment, landlord-tenant, or general civil litigationComfort working in a firm with an autonomous environmentPosition StructurePart-time employee position (W-2), with hours varying based on workloadHourly compensationHybrid or fully remote work arrangement, depending on employee and case needsFirm office located in Normandy Park, Washington, available for in-person collaboration as neededOccasional in-person attendance may be required for litigation support, primarily in courts from Island County to Pierce County – rare and with noticeMileage reimbursement provided for required travelTravel outside these areas is infrequent and typically optionalIdeal Candidate ProfileThis role is best suited for someone who:Enjoys supporting litigation and keeping cases organized and moving forwardIs proactive and able to anticipate what needs to happen nextThrives in a detail-oriented, deadline-driven environmentIs comfortable operating with a high degree of independence in a litigation-focused practiceValues flexibility, autonomy, and working closely with a small teamWants to remain engaged in meaningful legal work without a full-time scheduleCompensation and BenefitsSick Leave – 1.5 hours for every 40 hours workedPTO – accrued after 90 daysThe expected hourly range for this position is between $25.00 - $32.00.
