Software Development Engineer, Lambda - Experience

Overview In this role you will contribute to AWS Lambda’s Runtimes in Dublin, shaping how developers write and run code across multiple languages. You will work on a high-visibility domain with a large surface area, balancing security updates with customer disruption risk to deliver a best-in-class serverless experience. You’ll collaborate across languages and open-source communities to keep runtimes aligned with evolving language advancements. This is a scale-focused role that blends engineering impact with mentorship and teamwork. You will help drive cross-language runtime operations, documentation, and library support to enable millions of customers worldwide. ResponsibilitiesContribute to runtime implementations across multiple languages (Python, NodeJS, Java, .NET, Ruby, Go, Rust)Develop and maintain runtime documentation, security updates, and supporting librariesEngage with upstream open-source communities to align runtimes with language advancementsImprove runtime operations for efficiency, scalability, and security patching with minimal customer disruptionCollaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver a high-quality serverless experience Key requirementsBachelor's degree or equivalent3+ years of professional software development experienceStrong programming skills in at least two of: Java, Python, Node.js, Go, RustDeep understanding of system architecture, design patterns, and software engineering best practicesStrong debugging and performance monitoring skills (benchmarking, profiling, flamegraphs, memory management)Collaborative mindsetTeam player in diverse environmentsMentorship and knowledge sharingProficiency in multiple languages (Java, Python, Node.js, Go, Rust)Knowledge of cloud-native architectures and AWS servicesExperience with performance profiling and optimization tools
