Key duties include scanning or entering product information, handling cash, credit, or other forms of payment, and issuing receipts. The cashier may also assist customers by answering questions, directing them to the appropriate products, and resolving minor issues. Additional tasks can include balancing the cash drawer, maintaining a clean work area, and supporting other team members as needed.Responsibilities:Build and maintain positive customer relationships by providing excellent customer serviceDetermine customers' needs and recommending appropriate products and solutionsAssist customers with questions regarding product and project informationAccept payments and apply it to the appropriate customer accountAddress and resolve service concerns, should they ariseAnswer telephones and enter sales orders into the systemClean, organize, and maintain the sales floor to keep the store shelves well stockedFollow a product/supply checklist for each customer's job and up-selling additional products and suppliesActively engage in increasing knowledge of sales techniques and developing product and industry knowledge through attending company training programs and develops knowledge of residential, rural, industrial and commercial constructionRequirementsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsBasic computer and math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide common fractions/decimals)Effective time management and prioritization skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentExperience working in a team atmosphereMust take and pass drug test and consent to a background checkPrevious experience in a retail setting preferredPrevious experience in the lumber or building materials preferredBenefitsMedicalDentalVisionLife insurance401KPaid time off including vacation, holiday, and sick leave.
