RF Test and Systems Engineer

DescriptionProviding RF subject matter expertise and test support for next generation Navy communication systemsDesigning techniques to evaluate radio system resiliency in areas such as Anti-Jam, Low Probability of Detection (LPD), Low Probability of Intercept (LPI), or Low Probability of Geolocation (LPG)Supporting fundamental testing of tactical radio equipment within integrated networks with specific focus areas on Electronic Warfare (EW) and cyber resiliencyWorking with both legacy and future communications systems for the U.S. militaryDesigning test cases that meet specified objectivesExample objectives include feasibility studies, requirements-based testing, parametric optimization studies, and development test troubleshootingCreating test reports, out briefs, and status reports to upper management and the customerMaintaining skills current with trends in industry and the government and keeping abreast of new developments in their field in order to best support and advise the customersEnsuring that all assigned tasks meet DoD guidelines, and are completed according to scheduleFILLING THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON FUNDINGRequirementsBachelor\'s degree in electrical engineering or computer science with three plus years of experience or 10+ years of operational/military experienceExperience with radio communication systems, Radio Frequency (RF) testing, and system engineeringDemonstrated experience with best test practices, including formal, requirements-based testingExpertise in operation and analysis of High Frequency (HF) communication systemsDirect experience with RF test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, power meters, network analyzers, and oscilloscopesKnowledge of networking concepts such as IP, routing, Unicast/Multicast protocols, UDP, TCP, and the OSI modelKnowledge of basic wireless communications concepts such as propagation, fading, interference, and modulationKnowledge of RF performance measures such as gain, VSWR, phase noise, and noise figureExperience with maintaining and debugging networking test equipment including switches, routers, and traffic generatorsAbility to effectively communicate via oral, and written communications with senior management and technical staffFamiliar with RF system components such as amplifiers, filters, mixers, couplers, splitters/combiners, and antennasDesired SkillsTest experience with DoD wireless communications systems or applicationsKnowledge and experience of military communications systems including modulation and coding techniques, MAC techniques, and routing protocolsKnowledge and experience with testing EW and resiliency capabilities of DoD RF communications systemsKnowledge of 3dB Labs SCEPTRE Signal Processing SystemSpecific knowledge of military waveforms such as HF, MUOS, Tactical SATCOM, SINCGARS, ANW2, DAMA, IW, Phantom, VULOS, TSM, WREN, etc.Experience with tactical radio systems such as the AN/PRC-152A, AN/PRC-117, AN/PRC-160, AN/PRC-158, AN/PRC-163, AN/PRC-167Knowledge of software and toolsets including SPIRENT TestCenter, MGEN, iPerf, Keysight Benchvue, JMP, Wireshark, VMware, SNMP, Agile NetRAT scripting languagesExperience with basic scripting languages such as PythonExperience with MATLAB or other signal processing softwareExperience with GNURadioDevelopment experience with common SDR systems (e.g., Ettus Radios)Strong background in Linux operating systemsExperience with SIGINT or ELINT tools and techniquesKnowledge of Electronic Attack (EA) techniques: Proficient in reactive jamming, protocol-based attacks, signal spoofing, and other electronic warfare tactics to disrupt or deceive enemy communications and radar systemsClearance InformationSRC IS A CONTRACTOR FOR THE U.S. GOVERNMENT, THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE U.S. CITIZENSHIP AS WELL AS, A U.S. GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE SECRET LEVELTravel RequirementsOccasional travel (1-2 weeks per year) may be requiredAbout UsScientific Research Corporation is an advanced information technology and engineering company that provides innovative products and services to government and private industry, as well as independent institutions.
