Associate Data Engineer (Python / Azure) - Charlotte, NCOur client is seeking an early-career Data Engineer to join our client's team in Charlotte, NC, supporting cutting-edge financial crime analytics, primarily within the Anti-Money Laundering domain. In this role, you will help design, build, and deliver data-driven solutions on the Quantexa platform, working closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and agile delivery teams to turn complex banking data into meaningful insights for better risk detection and decisions.Key Skills and What You'll DoStakeholder Collaboration - Work with business stakeholders and product owners to clarify requirements, define acceptance criteria, and translate use cases into clear user stories and business rules.Data Analysis & Mapping - Analyze source systems and enterprise datasets to define data mappings, transformation logic, and data quality rules aligned with Quantexa standards.Pipeline Development - Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and transformations to support analytics, reporting, and investigative workflows.Quantexa Configuration - Configure and support end-to-end Quantexa solutions, including entity resolution, network modeling, scoring logic, validation, and UI components.Agile Delivery - Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and backlog refinement, ensuring requirements are clearly understood by the delivery team.Documentation - Document data logic, mappings, and solution design to maintain transparency, auditability, and effective knowledge transfer.Data Quality Improvement - Identify data inconsistencies, inefficiencies, or reliability risks and recommend improvements to enhance solution performance.Testing Support - Contribute to unit testing and validation to ensure solutions meet defined business and technical standards.Technical Foundation - Apply working knowledge of Python or Java, relational data models, cloud platforms such as Azure and Databricks, and tools including Git, JIRA, and Confluence.Position SpecificationsLocation: Charlotte, North Carolina (onsite/hybrid as determined by client)Domain Focus: Financial Crime Analytics, primarily Anti-Money Laundering (AML)Platform: Quantexa (entity resolution, network analytics, risk scoring)Employment Type: Full-timeExperience Level: Early-career / junior-level data engineerCore Technologies: Python or Java, relational databases, Azure, Databricks, GitMethodology: Agile (sprint planning, backlog refinement, iterative delivery)Tools: JIRA, Confluence, Git-based version controlKey Competencies: Data analysis, data mapping, pipeline development, data quality, documentation, testing support, stakeholder collaborationInterested?If you're at the start of your data engineering career and keen to grow in a high-impact financial crime environment, we'd be delighted to discuss this opportunity with you.Desired Skills and Experiencepython, azure, databricks, data factory, java, sql, Git, JIRA, confluenceEOE Statement: Specialist Staffing Group is an equal opportunity employer.
