Electrical Apprentice
Electrical Apprentices assist Electricians in the performance of electrical tasks such as pulling cable, installing devices, repairing electrical equipment, and reading blueprints. This position requires the apprentice to enroll in a 4-year Department of Labor (DOL) Registered Apprenticeship Program. Some travel will be required. Pay is dependent on experience.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesWorks under the direct supervision of a Journeyman Electrician and must be able to demonstrate safe work habits and proper care of tools and equipment. Assists with materials handling, installation of materials, devices and equipmentSpecific tasks include:Identify and eliminate hazardous conditions at the job siteMaintain the job site in a safe, neat and orderly conditionHandle and stage materials, equipment and toolsAssist with layout, wire pulls and installationMay be required to operate heavy equipmentAssist with cable tray installations, device installations, and lighting connectionsReceive On-the-job learning (OJL) as part of the apprenticeship programAttend class & make satisfactory progress with apprenticeship program completionSafely operate hand and power toolsPossess the ability to read and interpret instructions, maps, & manualsPositive safety attitude and personal integrityLegally operate company vehicles and equipmentWorking ConditionsJob requires working in all elements (rain, snow, heat, etc.)Must keep work tools with them at all times (work belt, bag, etc.)Use all types of ladders including step ladders up to 14’feet, “A” Frame and all size extension ladders and relocate a 12’ ladder by one’s selfPerform work at various heights, up to 90’ from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, and cat walks and be able to work in restricted areasWear protective personal equipment (PPE)About UsCarolinaPower serves the electrical construction & service needs of residential, industrial, institutional, and commercial communities throughout the United States.
