Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.Detailed responsibilities:* PATIENT CARE - Perform all RN Nursing duties. Assist in specialty clinic; triage patients as necessary in daily walk-in clinicPATIENT CARE - Coordinate all activities of the specialty related to patient carePATIENT CARE - Serve as liaison between patient/family and various members of the health care teamPATIENT CARE - Counsel and teach families regarding medical conditions, diagnostic procedures, medication control, and other interventionsPATIENT CARE - Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of services to provide optimal care for the patient within the specialty patient area with specialty surgical proceduresCOORDINATION - Collaborate with other members of the specialty team about the candidacy of potential patientsPROGRAMS - Participate in programs and committees related to the specialty or as directedEDUCATION - Conduct professional and public speaking engagements for educational and public relations purposesTRAINING - Participate in educational opportunities and workshops associated with the area specialty* REPORTS - Provide statistical reports as needed* SCHEDULES - As directed rotates on call including holiday, nights and weekendsEVALUATIONS - Review daily lab and diagnostic work on specialty work-up to assist in the direction of the specialty evaluationEDUCATION - Direct and coordinate educational activities for hospital employees regarding specialty surgeries; assist physician with research projects related to specialty surgeriesPATIENT CARE - Collaborate with community physicians on the daily care of specialty patientPATIENT CARE - Coordinate diagnostic procedures for complications that occur after specialty surgery in consultation with physicianPATIENT CARE - Direct the management of patient care caseload pre and post operative to provide continuity for the specialty patient and their familiesPOLICY & PROCEDURE - Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality assurance programsPOLICY AND PROCEDURES - Provide input and assist in the formulation of departmental policies and procedures and budget as requestedPATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocolsPATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processesPATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue riskPATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely mannerPATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"QualificationsEducation:Essential:* Program GraduateNonessential:* Bachelor's DegreeEducation specialization:Essential:* Nationally Accredited Nursing GraduateNonessential:* NursingExperience:Essential:3 years directly related experienceNonessential:Bilingual English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo2 years directly related experienceCredentials:Essential:CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 daysRN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NMPhysical Conditions:Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
