LOCATIONS:BRAYTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOLCOLEGROVE PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOLDRURY HIGH SCHOOLDescription:This is an annual internal posting for current NAPS faculty members. The following position is stipended per the NATA contract and is for the school year only.Job Goal: To coordinate the various special education services and functions mandated for students in the North Adams Public Schools.Supervision: Reports to the Principal and district Director of Student Support Services.Education, Work Experience, and Licensure:Required: Master's degree. Massachusetts special education certification.Preferred: Five years teaching experience. Experience with testing.Performance Responsibilities:* Prepare individual educational plans (IEPs).* Chair IEP Team meetings.* Collaborates with Principal to ensure special education services are aligned to school and district needs.* Assist with the supervision and evaluation of special education staff, including special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and teaching assistants as directed by the principal and/or director of student support services.* Assist Principal with master schedule development to ensure time for specialized services.* Coordinate and monitor delivery of services including OT/PT, speech, vision, and hearing as needed.* Coordinate and monitor the delivery of services to students on individual educational plans.* Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and school leaders regarding special education services and support.* Supervise screenings as applicable to grade level span and role.* Coordinate diagnostic testing in collaboration with the district office of Student Support Services.* Communicate with families regarding special education services.* Plan and implement professional development on topics related to special education.* Serve as liaison to outside service agencies and community partners.* Prepare reports as required.* Maintain all pertinent files.* Participate in Instructional Leadership Team meetings a minimum of once per month, or additionally as directed by the principal, to collaborate on the alignment of general education, specialized instruction, and support services.* Work up to two (2) days in the summer for a maximum of 16 hours as directed by the principal to collaborate with school leaders and/or to prepare for the school year.* Performs other duties as directed by the Principal or Director of Student Support Services*Physical Requirements: The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs and step stool whenever necessary. Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects. The position requires lifting objects of 20 pounds on a frequent basis, and over 20 pounds occasionally. There is a frequent requirement of fine manipulation associated with the required use of a computer, typewriter, keyboard, calculator, and other business machines.Environmental Conditions: The occupant is required to work indoors.
