Senior Process Technician

Senior Process Technician (Engineer)- Plastic Injection Molding The Engineer, Injection Molding is responsible for supporting and improving injection molding processes, tooling, equipment, materials, and product quality within a manufacturing environment. This role applies engineering principles and scientific injection molding practices to optimize processes, improve productivity, reduce costs, and support new and existing product development. The Engineer works closely with Molding, Tooling, Engineering, Production, Quality, Materials, and Maintenance teams to identify opportunities, troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and support validation activities. This position is expected to independently manage intermediate-level projects while receiving guidance from senior engineers and management on more complex initiatives. *This position is 100% onsite at the Dublin, OH manufacturing facility.* Essential Duties & Responsibilities * Support continuous improvement initiatives related to injection molding processes, products, tooling, equipment, and materials. * Develop, implement, and monitor injection molding processes using scientific molding principles. * Support and execute tooling qualifications and process validation activities, including IQ, OQ, and PQ. * Lead assigned projects, establish timelines, coordinate resources, and ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule. * Analyze equipment and process performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability, efficiency, and production capacity. * Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities related to scrap reduction, DPM improvement, OEE, setup optimization, cycle time, and process efficiency. * Partner closely with Tooling, Process Engineering, Quality, Production, and Maintenance teams to resolve manufacturing and process issues. * Assist with CAPA investigations, corrective actions, preventive actions, and related documentation. * Conduct independent technical analysis and develop effective solutions to manufacturing and engineering problems. * Develop engineering approaches, designs, and process solutions using established practices and technical knowledge. * Perform development, testing, experimentation, and process studies requiring a strong understanding of engineering principles and injection molding technology. * Develop and maintain detailed engineering specifications, process documentation, and technical reports. * Participate in Design of Experiments (DOE), process capability studies, and other engineering analyses. * Support new equipment, tooling, material, and process implementation. * Work with senior engineers and management to develop solutions for complex technical challenges. * Support special projects and other engineering initiatives as assigned. * Assist with the training of new and existing employees on documentation requirements, equipment operation, laboratory techniques, and department procedures. * Communicate technical information effectively to managers, peers, customers, and cross-functional teams. * Maintain appropriate communication and project updates to ensure effective collaboration and timely decision-making. Long-Term Responsibilities * Initiate and manage engineering projects involving new and existing molding equipment, tooling, materials, and processes. * Coordinate with the Materials Group to evaluate suppliers, materials, and technical requirements. * Provide technical input related to material selection, processing characteristics, and supplier capabilities. * Build strong working relationships with internal departments, suppliers, customers, and other external partners. * Contribute to long-term manufacturing, process improvement, and product strategies. * Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing capability, quality, productivity, and overall operational performance. Knowledge & Skills * Strong working knowledge of injection molding processes, equipment, tooling, materials, and process control. * Understanding of Scientific Injection Molding principles, including process development, tooling, part design, materials, and equipment. * Experience with thermoplastic and/or LSR injection molding is highly preferred. * Understanding of automation, assembly, fixturing, testing, and manufacturing process control techniques. * Knowledge of strength of materials and general engineering principles. * Experience with risk management tools, including FMEA development and analysis. * Working knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies, including DOE, process capability, and Gage R&R. * Proficiency with Minitab or similar statistical analysis software. * Understanding of manufacturing validation methodologies, including IQ, OQ, and PQ. * Knowledge of medical device manufacturing and familiarity with FDA Quality System Regulations is preferred. * Ability to analyze data, identify root causes, and develop practical engineering solutions. * Ability to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance from senior engineering resources. * Strong project management, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. * Ability to make sound technical decisions that support project objectives and manufacturing goals. * Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments and levels of the organization. Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience * Must be at least 18 years of age. * Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university. * 3–5 years of experience in injection molding or a related manufacturing environment. * Experience with scientific injection molding and process optimization strongly preferred. * Experience in medical device manufacturing is a plus.
