Fitter This hands-on role involves performing fitting and fabrication work in a structural steel manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity. Responsibilities Perform fitting and fabrication duties in a manufacturing environment, working primarily with structural and stainless steel components. Complete metal core welding and related fabrication tasks using appropriate welding processes and techniques. Read and interpret measurements, blueprints, work instructions, and production requirements to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly. Use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively to cut, fit, tack, and assemble metal parts. Perform tack welding and MIG welding as needed to support production and fabrication activities. Maintain quality standards by inspecting work, verifying measurements, and correcting defects or inaccuracies. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of equipment. Work independently and as part of a team to meet production goals and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Collaborate with supervisors and coworkers to resolve issues, improve processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Participate in training during the initial period to learn company-specific processes, standards, and equipment. Essential Skills Previous experience as a fitter, fabricator, or in a related manufacturing role preferred. Metal core welding experience required. At least 2 years of related experience preferred in welding, fitting, or fabrication. Ability to read and interpret measurements, blueprints, and work instructions accurately. Proficiency with welding processes including MIG and flux core welding. Experience working with stainless steel and structural steel materials. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment. Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively. Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining high quality standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a steel or structural steel manufacturing facility is beneficial. Background in production welding, fitting, and tack welding is an asset. Comfort working in a loud, hot, and physically demanding environment. Openness to learning new processes and participating in training to grow into the role. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a production team. Willingness to work second shift and occasional Saturdays as required. Why Work Here? Work EnvironmentYou will work in a structural steel manufacturing facility that is loud, hot, and can be dirty, requiring comfort in a heavy industrial setting and adherence to all safety protocols. The role involves extensive hands-on work with structural and stainless steel, using welding equipment, hand tools, power tools, and shop machinery. The training schedule is on first shift, from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM for approximately 1–2 weeks, depending on skill level. After training, the regular schedule is on second shift: Monday through Thursday from 4:30 PM to 3:00 AM, Friday from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, with a possible Saturday shift from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A 10% shift differential applies to the second shift, reflecting the commitment required to support production during these hours. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Arlington, TN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
