Job Title: Smart Hands / Network Field Engineer (Cisco WLC Deployment)Job SummaryWe are seeking experienced Smart Hands / Network Field Engineers to support a nationwide Cisco Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) deployment project. The engineer will be responsible for onsite installation, rack and stack activities, cabling, fiber connectivity, physical network implementation, and coordinating with remote engineering teams during migration and cutover activities.The ideal candidate should possess strong hands-on experience in data center or enterprise network deployments, physical infrastructure installation, and Cisco networking hardware.Key ResponsibilitiesOnsite Deployment ActivitiesStage equipment prior to scheduled cutover activities.Perform rack and stack of Cisco network equipment.Install Cisco Catalyst 9800 Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs) (2 per site).Mount equipment securely following rack standards.Verify proper power connections and redundancy.Perform physical installation according to deployment documentation.Network ConnectivityPerform power and network cross-connects.Verify switchport availability before WLC installation.Install and connect:SFP modulesFiber patch cordsEthernet patch cordsVerify correct fiber polarity and connectivity.Ensure all physical network connections comply with site design.Cabling ResponsibilitiesInstall, organize, and label copper and fiber cabling.Perform structured cabling best practices.Dress cables neatly within racks.Label cables and devices according to project standards.Verify cable integrity before handoff.Cutover SupportCoordinate with remote network engineering teams during scheduled migration windows.Provide console access when required.Perform basic troubleshooting during installation.Validate hardware installation and physical connectivity.Report installation status and any issues in real time.Assist remote engineers throughout cutover activities.Legacy Equipment Handling (Approximately 40–50% of Sites)Where applicable, engineers will:Decommission legacy Wireless LAN Controllers.Disconnect power and network cables.Label removed equipment.Pack equipment according to return shipping standards.Prepare equipment for shipment back to customer or warehouse.Site ValidationVerify:Power statusLink lightsFiber connectivityEthernet connectivityPhysical installation qualityCapture required photos for project documentation.Complete installation checklists and handover documentation.Required SkillsSmart Hands support experienceRack and Stack installationsEnterprise network deploymentsCisco hardware installationStructured cablingFiber optic connectivityEthernet connectivityCross-connect implementationConsole connectivityNetwork hardware troubleshootingRemote support coordinationPhysical network infrastructure deploymentTechnical ExperienceCandidates should have experience with:Cisco Catalyst 9800 Wireless LAN ControllersCisco switchesSFP modulesFiber optic cablingEthernet cablingPatch panelsData center racksConsole cable connectionsBasic Layer 1 network troubleshootingKnowledge of Cisco wireless infrastructure is highly preferred.Required ToolsEngineers must be equipped with:Console cableLaptopMobile hotspot / Internet connectivityLabel makerRack screwsScrewdriver setCable management toolsAdditionally, engineers should verify availability of:Required SFP modulesFiber patch cordsEthernet patch cordsPower cables (as applicable)Deployment ScheduleInitial deployment pace:Small/Medium Sites: 1 site per dayLarge Sites: Weekend deployment windowsFlexibility to work after-hours and weekends during cutover activities is required.Travel to customer locations is required.Qualifications3+ years of Smart Hands or Network Field Engineering experience.Experience with Cisco network hardware deployments.Strong understanding of structured cabling standards.Experience with fiber optic installation and troubleshooting.Ability to read rack elevations, network diagrams, and installation guides.Excellent communication skills for coordination with remote engineering teams.Ability to work independently onsite with minimal supervision.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Cisco Wireless LAN Controller deployments.Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent) are preferred.Experience in enterprise network implementation projects.Data center installation experience.Experience with hardware decommissioning and asset return processes.Strong background in Smart Hands services and physical network infrastructure.
