Electrical Estimator
Senior Electrical EstimatorWe are seeking an exceptionally qualified Electrical Estimator to join our team of Estimators at The JPI Group. This individual will bring extensive expertise in electrical estimating combined with proven capabilities and experience in managing junior to mid-level estimators.Ideal Candidate Profile:The successful candidate will be highly proficient and possess high level of technical estimating skills, including use of estimating software and the business acumen necessary to drive growth, foster long-term client relationships, and secure complex, high-value projects. This role requires an individual with outstanding negotiation skills, a strong record of business development success, and the ability to enhance client satisfaction while delivering optimal business outcomes. This position reports directly to the Lead Senior Electrical Estimator.Compensation:Base salarySign-on bonusPotential individual performance bonusComprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage401(k) with employer matchPaid time offDuties and Responsibilities:Blueprint & Specification Analysis: Review construction documents to determine the full scope of work, including lighting, power, low voltage and fire alarm systems.Cost Calculation: Meticulously calculate quantities of materials (conduit, wire, fixtures) and labor hours required for installation.Bid Proposal Preparation: Generate detailed proposals, including cost for materials, labor subcontractors, permitting and overheadSupplier/Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain quotes from suppliers and vendors to ensure competitive pricing.Risk Assessment: Identify potential pitfalls in projects, such as design gaps or challenging site conditions, to include in contingencies.Software Usage: Utilize estimating software (e.g, Accubid, ConEst) to streamline the bidding process.Skills and Abilities:Excellent communicator to effectively support the team and provide clear directionAbility and desire to train and mentor estimators and PM development candidatesTeam player with ability to collaborate with a wide variety of personnel both internal and externalAbility to work with tight deadlines and thrive under pressure while maintaining a calm demeanorExpert knowledge of electrical estimating with the ability to anticipate pricing issues and the ability to provide value engineering guidanceThorough knowledge of the electrical industry with general knowledge of mechanical, civil, and other specialty tradesAbility to incorporate the Chicago Electrical Code, National Electrical Code, building codes, and OSHA requirements into estimatesDesire to build relationships with key stakeholders involved with the estimating process and actively participate in industry, client, and community relationsStrong conceptual estimating skillsAbility to identify process improvement opportunities and lead initiatives to implement changeRequirements:Computerized estimating experience – ConEst preferredProficiency in Microsoft Office, expert in ExcelAbility to visit jobsites and interact with field personnelHandle physical aspects of job: standing, sitting, lifting up to 25lbsEducation and Experience:BS in engineering, construction management, or related field preferred10+ years electrical contracting or construction experience5+ years electrical estimating experience
