Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Personal Lines Supervisor, the Personal Lines Associate Underwriter supports underwriting operations for Personal Lines new and renewal business. This role assists Personal Lines Underwriters with evaluating risk acceptability, processing policy transactions, and maintaining accurate underwriting records in accordance with established guidelines and regulatory requirements.The Associate Underwriter serves in a secondary, support capacity to underwriters while providing professional service to independent agents. This position plays an important role in supporting business growth, underwriting quality, and operational efficiency, and offers exposure to underwriting fundamentals that may support progression to an Underwriter role.Essential FunctionsSupport Personal Lines Underwriters with underwriting activities for new and renewal accountsAssist agents with quoting new business and processing approvals in accordance with New Business Guidelines and underwriter directionServe as a secondary point of contact for independent agents via telephone, email, fax, and in-person communicationProcess policy transactions including cancellations, endorsements, and umbrella renewals while adhering to company policies and applicable state regulationsRequest, collect, and verify underwriting information and documentation from agents or insureds (e.g., loss reports, alarm certificates, jewelry appraisals, liability exclusions)Complete and support underwriting-related reporting functions, including but not limited to state reporting error reviews, mortgagee reporting error corrections, Risk Alert reports, EARS reports, and PAC without PartnersPrint, review, and route loss review reports to underwritersDistribute new business submissions within underwriting workflowsAccurately enter and maintain underwriting data in company systems to support quoting, reporting, and policy administrationPerform other related duties as assignedPeople ManagementNoneJob Requirements, Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesPrior experience in Personal Lines underwriting or insurance customer serviceWorking knowledge of Property and Casualty insuranceStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detailEffective organizational and time management skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)Experience with Policy Management System is preferredStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively within a teamPersonal CharacteristicsDemonstrates a high degree of honesty and integrityWorks collaboratively as a team playerShows commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvementCommunicates professionally and courteously with agents, customers, and coworkersAdapts effectively to change in a fast-paced, customer-focused environmentAdheres to established company standards, procedures, and deadlinesPhysical Conditions / RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
