Work Schedule:
Casual / As needed : As early as 7am, as late as 7pm Monday through Friday. Saturdays 8am-2pm, Sundays 7am-3pm

Job Summary:
The Patient Access Registration Staff is responsible for greeting patients, collecting and verifying demographic and insurance information, collecting patient payments, and ensuring accurate entry of data into the hospital’s electronic health record (EHR) system. The role supports efficient patient flow, accurate billing, and a positive patient experience.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree preferred)
Previous experience in healthcare, registration, or administrative roles
Responsibilities include:
Patient Intake & Customer Service
Greet patients and visitors in a professional, courteous manner.
Provide assistance with forms, directions, and general hospital information.
Maintain patient privacy and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Registration & Data Entry
Collect and verify patient demographic, insurance, and contact information.
Enter patient information accurately into the EHR.
Ensure proper selection of patient encounter type (outpatient, therapy series emergency, etc.).
Obtain and scan required documentation (ID, insurance cards, referral forms, ABNs).
Resolve registration errors in the work queues
Insurance & Financial Processing
Verify insurance eligibility and coverage.
Explain financial responsibilities, payment options, and hospital policies to patients.
Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances when applicable.
Scheduling & Coordination
Schedule or reschedule appointments, tests, or procedures as needed.
Check in patients
Communicate effectively with clinical departments to ensure smooth patient flow.
Alert care teams to patient arrival, special needs, or urgent situations.
Record Management & Compliance
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
Follow protocols for consent forms, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
Ensure proper handling of sensitive patient information.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with Epic
Basic knowledge of medical terminology
Strong computer and data entry skills
Excellent patient experience skills
Physical Requirements for the Role:
Prolonged sitting at a desk while working on a computer (often 6–8 hours per shift)
Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, data entry, and phone use
Repetitive motions such as keyboarding and mouse use
Ability to see clearly (close vision) for reading screens, documents, and patient information
Hearing ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff in person and over the phone
Speaking ability to clearly convey information and instructions
Occasional standing or walking within the office or hospital department
Light lifting (typically up to 10–15 pounds), such as files, paperwork, or office supplies
Ability to maintain focus for extended periods in a fast-paced environment
