IT Manager/Sr. Software Engineer

We are seeking an accomplished IT Manager/Sr. Software Engineer to lead a high-performing team responsible for the design, development, modernization, and support of custom enterprise applications. This role is ideal for a technically credible leader who has grown from a senior software engineering background and enjoys guiding teams while remaining close to architecture and delivery decisions.The successful candidate will bring strong experience leading Java-based enterprise application development, modern front-end solutions (Angular), and data-driven systems, while helping teams modernize legacy platforms into scalable, cloud-based architectures. While familiarity with cloud and CI/CD practices is expected, this role’s primary focus is engineering leadership, application architecture, and delivery excellence.Experience within the insurance or financial services industry is strongly preferred.Your ImpactLead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers and technical professionals responsible for building and supporting enterprise applicationsProvide hands-on technical leadership and architectural guidance across Java/Spring backend services, Angular front-end applications, and SQL-based data storesOwn application-level design decisions, ensuring systems are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with long-term business needsGuide modernization initiatives, including refactoring legacy systems and evolving toward modular or service-oriented architecturesPartner with product owners, business leaders, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into clear technical direction and delivery plansPromote engineering best practices such as code quality, testing, documentation, and technical standardsBalance feature delivery with technical debt management and platform stabilitySupport production issues as needed, fostering accountability, learning, and continuous improvementCloud & Delivery Enablement (Supporting Focus)Leverage Azure cloud capabilities to support modern application architectures and scalable deployment modelsEnsure development teams are enabled with reliable build, deployment, and release processesCollaborate with platform or DevOps teams to align application needs with cloud and infrastructure capabilitiesSuccessful Candidates Will HaveBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 3+ years in a technical leadership or people management roleStrong hands-on experience with Java/Spring-based enterprise applications, modern front-end frameworks (Angular preferred), and relational databases (SQL Server or equivalent)Proven ability to lead development teams, guide architectural decisions, and deliver complex software solutionsExperience modernizing legacy systems and operating in regulated environmentsWorking knowledge of Azure and CI/CD concepts sufficient to guide teams and collaborate effectivelyExcellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersOne80 Intermediaries is part of Arrowhead Intermediaries, a global insurance distribution platform that offers deep specialization, scale, and innovation across wholesale brokerage, program administration, and specialty insurance.
