2025-2026 - Auxiliary Programs - After School Assistant (Later Gators)Later Gators Assistant works alongside a Green Trees faculty member to ensure the daily care of every child by following all licensing guidelines and professional standards, and helps to maintain an interactive and engaging classroom that is clean and organized. Later Gators Assistants should be able to take direction, be a team player, flexible and willing to learn. As well as being nurturing, compassionate, observant and an overall loving caretaker of young children.Overview:Keep children safe, active, and engagedBe a positive role model at all timesHelp foster and maintain a safe, fun, and healthy environmentAttend all days for which you are hired, as well as any orientation and trainingActively participate in professional development and required meetingsAdhere to the policies and procedures of Newman at all timesComplete duties assigned.Later Gators Classroom Expectations:Follow specific classroom routine as outlined by the Green Trees faculty memberEngage in purposeful play indoors and outdoors, which requires motions including climbing stairs, walking, squatting or kneelingAssist children with daily tasks:Changing diapers at least every 2 hours and support potty training or trained childrenF requent hand washingPutting on and taking off indoor and outdoor shoesMonitoring aftercare snackTransition children safely to and from classroom and outside spacesAssist with lifting children into stroller and walking them to the appropriate caregiverAbility to lift a child weighing 10-45 lbs to change diapers, soothe or comfortEngage in daily cleaning responsibilities:Sanitize shared spaces after each useSanitize classroom and Later Gator materials frequentlySanitize tables and chairs when all children have left for the dayUtilize an online learning management system to record incidents, health checks, and attendanceCreate and manage a Later Gator bin of materials.Available to work Monday through Friday between hours of 2:45 - 5:30 p.m.Education & Experience:High school or equivalent (required)1 year childcare experience (preferred)Additional Notes:Part-time Temporary Position
