Traveling Data Center Technician

Travel Requirement Approximately 75% nationwide travel and 25% work in the home market Overview We are building a Tiger Team of Level 2 Data Center Technicians to support a large‑scale fiber infrastructure upgrade project for a major enterprise data center client.This initiative focuses on replacing legacy coax cabling with fiber across multiple data center locations nationwide.This team will act as the first technical presence at new project sites, spending the initial 6–8 weeks setting up processes, standards, and procedures to ensure each deployment is positioned for long‑term success. Once the foundation is established, the team will transition day‑to‑day responsibilities to longer‑term staff and move on to the next site.Between project assignments, technicians will work onsite at a large data center in their designated home market. Home Base Locations This role is site‑based and must be home‑based in one of the following approved locations:Council Bluffs, IowaLenoir, North CarolinaAshburn, Virginia Candidates must live within a commutable distance of one of these sites. Responsibilities Support fiber and cabling upgrades within large‑scale data center environmentsLead early‑stage project execution at new data center locationsEstablish best practices, documentation, and workflows during initial deploymentsTroubleshoot and replace cabling as neededMaintain high standards for safety, quality, and performanceProvide continuity and support until projects transition to long‑term teams Required Skills Data center experienceCabling (fiber and/or coax)TroubleshootingCable replacement experience Additional Qualifications Flexibility and comfort with frequent travelTravel assignments typically last up to two weeks at a time before returning to the home marketAll travel arrangements are handled by the employerOut‑of‑pocket travel expenses are reimbursedMeal allowanceExperience LevelIntermediate level Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Ashburn, VA. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
