This role focuses on translating complex biomedical research into clear, engaging, and business-friendly content for external audiences. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between scientific discovery and commercialization by developing materials that support technology marketing, partnership development, and technology transfer initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesTranslate complex scientific and technical information into clear, concise, and plain-language content for non-scientific and business audiencesDevelop technology summaries, marketing abstracts, and partnership-focused materials to support licensing and commercialization effortsWrite and edit content for:Newsletters Annual reportsScientific and business journalsTechnology transfer success storiesCreate external-facing communications materials, including:Slide presentationsFigures, graphics, and visual contentWebsite and digital contentSupport development of technology transfer narratives that position innovations for industry and commercial partnersCollaborate with scientists, business development teams, and communications offices to gather and synthesize informationAssist in preparing:Award nominationsReports and briefing materialsBackground research and reference documentsDevelop and maintain social media and outreach content (e.g., LinkedIn, web platforms)Support webinars, presentations, and promotional materials for scientific and industry audiencesWork independently to manage writing projects from concept to final deliverableRequired QualificationsCandidates must submit 2–3 writing samples demonstrating the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into clear, plain-language content for non-scientific audiences.Master’s degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or a related fieldMinimum 2 years of experience in technical or scientific writing in plain languageMinimum 2 years of experience in scientific business communications, technology transfer, or commercialization-focused writingDemonstrated ability to translate complex scientific concepts into clear, engaging content for non-technical audiencesExperience producing external-facing materials, such as:Technology summariesMarketing or business abstractsNewsletters or reportsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Familiarity with collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint, Teams)Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting technology transfer, licensing, or commercialization effortsExperience writing for industry, business development, or external stakeholdersFamiliarity with NIH or federal research environmentsExperience with web-based content, social media outreach, or digital communicationsAbility to create visual content (slides, infographics, or figures)The diversity of Axle’s employees is a tremendous asset. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location. Salary Range: $55 USD - $65 USD
