Source One is a consulting services company and we’re currently looking for the following individual to work as an on-site consultant to our client, a ride-sharing autonomous vehicle company in Foster City, CA.** We are unable to work with third-party companies for this roleTitle: Test Engineer - Baseline (Contract)Pay Rate: $39.45/hour (W-2 + Benefits)Position Overview: Zoox is seeking a Test Engineer to join the Product Software QA Team supporting Baseline, a mission-critical web application used within autonomous vehicle operations. This role bridges the gap between software validation and physical vehicle systems. The ideal candidate will contribute to both manual and automated testing efforts while supporting vehicle mission testing, troubleshooting, defect triage, and release validation across multiple environments.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on testing, working closely with developers and product teams, and contributing to cutting-edge autonomous vehicle technology.Key Responsibilities:Test Automation & Manual TestingDevelop, maintain, and expand Playwright automation test suites to improve regression coverage. Execute manual testing for new features, releases, hotfixes, and pre-merge validations. Validate functionality across development, staging, and production environments.Vehicle Mission Testing & DiagnoticsConduct vehicle mission testing and evaluate workflows from an operational perspective. Analyze mission outcomes and provide detailed reporting. Utilize vehicle troubleshooting workflows to diagnose and isolate issuesDefect Triage & TroubleshootingSupport issue triage activities and investigate software and hardware-related defects. Reproduce, validate, and verify issues across multiple environments. Collaborate with engineering teams to drive issues through resolution.Bug Reporting & DocumentCreate clear, concise, and actionable bug reports. Document reproduction steps, expected results, and supporting evidence. Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and reported defects.Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner closely with Software Engineers, QA Leads, Product Managers, and Operations teams. Participate in test planning, feature reviews, and release readiness discussions. Ensure comprehensive test coverage and validation of new functionality.Release ValidationPerform release validation and provide QA sign-off for production readiness. Track defects through closure and maintain detailed testing documentation.Process Improvement & InnovationLeverage AI tools and automation opportunities to improve testing efficiency. Recommend enhancements to QA processes and testing strategies. Promote an automation-first mindset and continuous improvement culture.Required Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical fieldExperience1 -3 years of experience in Software QA, Test Engineering, or Validation EngineeringExperience testing complex software applications in fast-paced environmentsTechnical SkillsExperience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira and TestRailUnderstanding of vehicle communication protocols including CAN, UDS, and EthernetHands-on experience with vehicle diagnostics and troubleshooting workflowsFamiliarity with autonomous vehicle technologies including LiDAR, Radar, Camera systems, EV powertrain systems, and Firmware operationsCore CompetenciesStrong analytical and troubleshooting skillsExcellent written and verbal communicationAbility to work independently and manage competing prioritiesDetail-oriented with strong documentation practicesHighly adaptable and comfortable in rapidly changing environmentsPreferred QualificationsHands-on automation experience using PlaywrightExperience with TypeScript, JavaScript and PythonExposure to test automation frameworks and CI/CD environmentsExperience supporting hardware-software integrated systems
