Part-Time Evening Youth Care Coach

In 2022, Unbound Now opened The Reagan, a faith-based specialized home for girls ages 12-17 who have experienced sexual exploitation. Our Youth Care Coaches are responsible for the daily care and supervision of youth placed at The Reagan. Youth Care Coaches build healthy relationships with the youth of The Reagan and act as mentors to assist in creating a trauma-informed, healing environment.
Status: Part time, non-exempt
Anticipated hours: 20-30 hrs/week. Evenings, Weekends, and Holidays required and with the ability to stay awake on night shifts
Compensation: Hourly Wage
Benefits: Pro-rated PTO based on hrs/wk, and option to participate in retirement plan with no match
Travel: This position may require limited travel for training and team/professional development opportunities
Job Responsibilities:
Staff arrives on time to their scheduled shift consistently
Oversee youth’s completion of chores to maintain the home’s cleanliness and sanitation, including laundry, kitchen, bathrooms, orderliness of the common areas and bedrooms, taking out of trash, etc.
Recognize red flag behavior with youth and respond according to policy, and report appropriately
Complete laundry for communal linen items such as sheets and towels
Maintain daily progress notes for each assigned youth and these progress notes are to be completed within the required timeframe, before the end of shift
Needs of the youth/house are communicated effectively during shift change
Administer and document all administration of Prescription and non-prescription medication as approved/required for each youth
Prepare and serve meals and snacks for youth placed at The Reagan, in accordance with Local Health Codes and Youth Allergies and food restrictions
Teach youth life skills through the use of Trauma-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) and other trauma-informed approaches to care
Perform Residential responsibilities related to the care of Youth in The Reagan, including appropriate clothing and hygiene; participation in school/homework, spiritual development,recreational and age-appropriate skill development activities
Supervise and provide support to youth while attending University of Texas Charter School at Methodist Children’s Home
Ability to provide transportation to youth in the home
Develop appropriate, supportive and professional relationships with each assigned youth
Serve as a positive role model to youth
Apply approved behavior modification techniques to de-escalate inappropriate behaviors
Facilitate and monitor youth phone calls to persons on youth’s approved contact list
Comply with Unbound Now policies and code of ethics
Participate in team meetings, staff training and other collaborative efforts, as needed
Participates in Supervision and Development meetings with the House Director

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent
A minimum of 60 accredited credit hours toward higher education degree in social work, sociology, psychology or a closely related human or social services field
Prior experience working with youth preferred
Training and experience in survivor-centered, trauma-informed services
Job Requirements:
Mature Christian faith, as evidenced by participation in a local Christian church
Three references, (supervisor, professional, personal)
Must be 21 years of age
Agree to and pass all required criminal background checks, including DFPS criminal history check and abuse and neglect registry check
Pass employment eligibility verification
Fulfill Unbound Now’s pre-service, annual and ongoing training requirements for specialized survivor advocates
Willingness to use personal vehicle for work travel; valid driver’s license; reliable vehicle; current car insurance

Working conditions Work performed in a residential home environment. Work duties may on rare occasions be performed in an environment requiring exposure to weather extremes, fumes, odors, bodily fluids, and noise.
