Key Responsibilities & DeliverablesAPI DevelopmentDesign and develop RESTful and/or SOAP web service APIs to integrate SMUD enterprise systems, including:GISERPAsset ManagementProject ControlsDocument Management SystemsSupport secure data exchange using standardized formats such as:JSONXMLImplement robust authentication and authorization mechanisms, including:OAuth 2.0JWTSAMLOther SMUD-approved security protocolsProduce comprehensive API documentation utilizing OpenAPI Specification (Swagger).Ensure all APIs are:Version controlledBackward compatibleGoverned by documented extension and deprecation policiesIntegrations & InteroperabilityAnalyze existing SMUD platforms and identify optimal integration points.Design and develop connectors, adapters, and middleware solutions to support interoperability between:Legacy systemsCloud platformsApproved third-party applicationsDesign event-driven integrations where appropriate, including:Asynchronous messagingWebhook capabilitiesImplement:Error handlingTransaction managementComprehensive loggingMonitoring and alertingSecurityEnsure all solutions comply with:SMUD cybersecurity policiesNIST standardsCIS ControlsImplement security best practices including:Data encryption in transit and at restSecure API gatewaysVulnerability assessmentsProvide:Audit trailsDetailed transaction loggingSecurity reporting as requiredScalability & PerformanceDesign solutions for:High availabilityHorizontal scalabilityFault tolerance and resilienceDefine and implement performance benchmarks, including:Transactions per second (TPS)Response-time and latency requirementsMission-critical process performance targetsTesting & Quality AssuranceDevelop and execute comprehensive testing strategies, including:Unit TestingIntegration TestingSystem TestingUser Acceptance Testing (UAT)Support automated regression testing to ensure long-term reliability and maintainability.Validate integrations and APIs prior to production deployment.Documentation & CollaborationMaintain complete technical and operational documentation in accordance with organizational standards.Provide technical knowledge transfer and training as required.Collaborate closely with:SMUD IT resourcesBusiness stakeholdersProject teamsEnsure all deliverables align with SMUD's data integration and enterprise architecture objectives.Mandatory RequirementsThe proposed WebMethods Integration Developer must possess:Minimum 5 years of professional experience developing and implementing solutions using the webMethods Integration Platform.Minimum 2 years of experience with:webMethods.iowebMethods Cloud Integration (Integration Cloud)Proven experience developing SAP RFC (Remote Function Call) integrations.Demonstrated experience developing custom integration services using Java.Senior-level proficiency with the webMethods platform and related technologies, including:Integration ServerUniversal MessagingAPI GatewaywebMethods Test SuiteEDI / Trading Networks (TN)Java Service DevelopmentwebMethods.ioPreferred / Desirable QualificationsHands-on experience with:webMethods Test SuiteEDI / Trading Networks (TN)Relevant certifications, including:Software AG Certified webMethods DeveloperMuleSoft CertificationsAWS Certified DeveloperMicrosoft Azure Integration CertificationsPMP or equivalentPrior experience supporting:Public sector organizationsUtility companiesEnergy industry digital transformation initiativesStrong knowledge of Software AG technologies:Integration ServerUniversal MessagingAPI GatewayJava Service DevelopmentDemonstrated expertise in:Secure software developmentIdentity and Access Management (IAM)Cybersecurity best practicesAssumptionsContractors must:Work exclusively within the United StatesMaintain reliable internet connectivityStandard work schedule:Between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM Pacific TimeFinal schedule to be coordinated with the immediate supervisorContractor must attend an initial onsite orientation and onboarding session:Duration: 3 daysLocation: SMUD Headquarters, Sacramento, CaliforniaFollowing orientation, the contractor will work remotely.
