Senior Database Admin
The Sr. Database Administrator works as a part of a team that is responsible for administering, supporting and assisting in the implementation of new and existing SQL systems, data conversions, and data migrations. This role is also responsible for Transact-SQL (T-SQL) review, database change deployments, and monitoring of existing systems while assisting in the migration to new systems. A normal work day includes day-to-day administration, performance tuning, and maintenance support for several core systems. The Database Administrator will also be responsible for reviewing maintenance plans, ensuring 100% of databases are backed up, responding to failures, as well as writing and testing disaster recovery plans.This is a remote position.Essential Functions & ResponsibilitiesEnsure system availability and test or execute recoveryExecute performance tuning, backup, and restoration of databasesProvide daily management of Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure and assure service availabilityMaintain all databases including Development, QA, and Production environmentsWork with business users, developers, and infrastructure teams to ensure quality productsResponsible for documenting all database maintenance proceduresMaintain policies and procedures to ensure regulatory complianceKeep SQL servers up to date with necessary patchesPerform release management activitiesPerform server migration/upgrade activitiesPerform other duties as assignedKnowledge & SkillsDeep knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2014, 2016, and/or 2019Thorough understanding of Relational Databases, T-SQL Scripting, Database Normalization best practices, database technologies, and conceptsProficient with SQL Development – ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)Database Design in a Software Development Environment as a contributorEducation & Experience6+ years’ experience in database administration of SQL Server database environmentsHands-on experience in backups and recoveryExperience troubleshooting and resolving database integrity and performance issuesExperience with Performance Tuning and Query OptimizationExperience in Microsoft SQL Server Replication (preferred)Experience with Microsoft Azure SQL Database (preferred)Experience with SSRS, SSIS or SSAS (preferred)Experience in implementing operational automation (preferred)Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience (preferred)Pay RangeCorVel uses a market based approach to pay and our salary ranges may vary depending on your location. Pay rates are established taking into account the following factors: federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, the geographic location differential, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal employee equity, and market conditions. Our ranges may be modified at any time.For leveled roles (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.) new hires may be slotted into a different level, either up or down, based on assessment during interview process taking into consideration experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
