The experienced Ventas team shares a commitment to each other and to the Company’s mission of helping people live longer, healthier, happier lives.About The RoleThe Investment Officer is an externally focused investment professional responsible for sourcing, developing, and advancing acquisition and investment opportunities across the healthcare real estate landscape. Working closely with the Senior Vice President, Business Development and Senior Investment Officers (SIOs), this role develops and executes a targeted business development strategy to build relationships, generate a robust transaction pipeline, and support both near‑ and long‑term growth objectives. The role partners cross‑functionally to advance transactions from initial sourcing through execution and closing. Key responsibilities include:Partner with the SVP and SIOs to identify, prioritize, and cultivate prospective customer and partner relationships, including developing and executing targeted outreach and calling plansSource, assess, and advance a robust pipeline of investment opportunities by building relationships with operators, developers, brokers, and other industry decision‑makersCollaborate with SIOs and Asset Management to understand existing operator relationships and further strengthen Ventas’ partnershipsDevelop a strong working knowledge of Ventas’ acquisition process, including underwriting parameters, deal structuring, documentation, and coordination with internal partners (Accounting, Tax, Legal, REIT Compliance)Conduct initial screening and evaluation of investment opportunities and collaborate with senior investment leadership on deal structuring and investment strategySupport underwriting teams and internal and external advisors to manage risk and drive timely execution of transactionsPartner with senior leadership on strategic initiatives and special projects, as neededServe as a visible and credible ambassador for Ventas within the healthcare real estate and investment communityQualificationsBachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, real estate, or a related field; advanced degree preferredMinimum of 7 years of experience in real estate and/or healthcare finance, investment banking, development, or acquisitions, including at least 3 years in a business development–focused roleMust be located in the Chicago, IL or New York, NY surrounding area or willing to relocate for the duration of employment.Willingness to adapt and thrive in a blended work environment with 3-days in office, seamlessly transitioning between remote work and in-office operations.Demonstrated ability to source, evaluate, and advance complex investment transactionsStrong analytical skills, sound business judgment, and demonstrated financial acumenProven ability to build trust, influence, and communicate effectively and persuasively with internal and external stakeholdersSelf‑starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a results‑oriented, collaborative environmentHigh degree of professionalism, integrity, initiative, and accountabilityStrong interpersonal presence and team orientation aligned with a collaborative cultureWillingness and ability to travel approximately 60%Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without need for employer sponsorship now or in the futureThe estimated base salary range for this position is $175,000 – $250,000 per year. This range reflects a good-faith estimate of the base salary Ventas reasonably expects to pay at the time of posting.
