This internship is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in machine design, industrial automation, and control systems to gain hands‑on experience within our automation design department.We are part of a global manufacturing organization that designs, builds, and tests machinery in the Chicago area for customers worldwide in the pharmaceutical tablet manufacturing industry. Our equipment integrates a range of motors, actuators, and sensors connected to centralized PLC and HMI (Human Machine Interface) systems for process control.Job Summary:Perform duties to assemble and inspect sub-assemblies and final machines to meet required specification and established quality standards.Responsibilities:Work from orders,prints, material lists and instructions to perform the following job duties:Plan assembly operations, move pre-picked parts to work area, check parts to verify accuracyof parts picked.Build sub-assemblies, layoutparts, measure and fit, drill and tap holes, deburr and polish as necessary.Pull requiredhardware from stockbins in accordance with print specifications.Align/fit parts in place and connect wiring/pneumatics as required to build sub-assemblies.Mount components and sub-assemblies to final machine, layout, measure and fit components, drill, tap, deburr, and polish parts and install seals and gaskets.Measure, cut, thread, and install conduit.Comfortable workingfrom stairs, ladders,and scissor lift.Prepare dailyproduction reports, reportproblems, and mark up printsas necessary.Troubleshoot unusual machine problems, tear down units, identify and replace or repair defective parts and machine new parts as necessary.Interface with customers and Technical Servicesto resolve any machine problems.Troubleshoot and diagnose potentialequipment problems and take corrective actions to resolve.Modify existing equipmentas needed using hand tools, power tools, saws, shears,mills, lathes, and grinders.Follow safetyrules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.Help with facilities tasks such as moving equipment, organizing boxes, moving office furniture, basic building maintenance and other related tasks.Must be able to lift up to 50lbs multiple times per day.Travel independently to customer sites to assemble components, perform installation, or to make modifications to assemblies.
