Packaging Plant Operator
Position Summary: The Packaging Plant Operator is responsible for the efficient operation of equipment used to process, package, and prepare salt products for shipment. This hands-on role supports production activities while ensuring quality standards, operational efficiency, and safety compliance are consistently met. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Operate and monitor packaging line equipment, including conveyors, weighing systems, and automated machinery. Ensure products are accurately filled, sealed, labeled, and palletized in accordance with established specifications. Perform routine quality control checks to verify product weight, packaging integrity, and labeling accuracy. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company policies and OSHA standards. Assist with loading and unloading raw materials and finished goods as needed. Identify and report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or production issues in a timely manner. Perform basic equipment maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting to support continuous operations. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn and operate new equipment. Dependable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Preferred Experience: Prior experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment. Experience operating automated packaging or bagging equipment (e.g., Hamer systems). Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and twist for extended periods. Ability to safely work on ladders or elevated platforms as required. Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a physically active production environment. Required use of PPE (hard hat, safety vest, steel‑toe boots) in operational areas. Work Environment: Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, salt, and varying temperatures. Fast-paced, team-oriented environment with frequent interaction among production staff. Regular overtime, weekend, or shift work may be required based on operational needs.
