Material Handler
Position Summary: This position reports to the Logistics Manager in support of Manufacturing Operations in the Sunnyvale, CA plant. Applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Under minimal supervision, supports the packaging group and product stockrooms by performing the following duties: Key Responsibilities: • Picking, staging and delivering material orders from stockrooms to designated areas for either product manufacturing or shipping fulfillment. • Sealing, packaging and labeling of completed products for finished goods warehouses. • Visual inspection of products for flaws and defects as defined. Filling out rejection and store transaction forms with attention to detail as needed. • Operating computer systems to lookup product data and specifications; generating and applying inventory labels to products with accuracy and attention to detail. • Occasionally operate mechanical equipment (dollies, pallet jacks, forklifts and company vehicles) in a safe manner in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. • Organizing and maintaining stock inventory levels, performing regular inventory cycle counts. • Keeping accurate daily records of work orders completed as well as time worked. • Assisting teammates in achieving daily goals, often requiring multi-tasking or cross-training. • Additional duties as assigned. Work Environment: • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; talk, hear, smell, and use hands and fingers to perform delicate tasks. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes or airborne particles, and is expected to work while wearing protective safety equipment (lab coat, gloves, googles) as required. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. • Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds using traditional lifting techniques. Items over 50 pounds will require the employee to use pallet lifts or other equipment. Employee will be trained in these techniques upon employment. Employees already in position will require one time training. • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions, quickly learn new tasks, and prioritize multiple assignments. • Ability to build productive internal/external working relationships with other employees, and proactively communicate with supervisors and managers. • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; talk, hear, smell, and use hands and fingers to perform delicate tasks. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. • Experience in working in a warehouse/packaging environment, medical/food/pharmaceutical processing or related fields preferred but not required.
