School Counselor
DescriptionAs vital members of many building and district teams, school counselors create a culture of respect, inclusion, and success for all. School counselors will enhance student academic achievement, support emotional and interpersonal growth, and help prepare all students for success in high school and beyond.Responsibilities include:- Individual student academic planning/goal setting- Coordination of universal curriculum to support academic success, social-emotional learning, and college & career exploration- Short-term student counseling and referrals for long-term support- Collaboration with families, teachers, administrators, district-wide student services, and community partners to support student success- Participation in and advocacy for students at IEP, 504, Talented and Gifted, and other student-focused meetings- Support and facilitation of building and district-wide mental health and inclusion initiatives- Data analysis to identify trends in student needs/challenges and develop strategic solutions- Acting as a systems change agent to improve equity, access, achievement, and opportunities for all studentsEducation, Experience and Qualifications:Master's degree in school counseling or a related field (i.e., school psychology or school social work)Experience with successfully servicing students and families in a school settingMeet the Wisconsin certification/licensure standardsUphold ASCA/NASP/NASW ethical and professional standards
