Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Civil/Structural Engineer to join our team and contribute to the mission of the Kesselring Site. In this role, you will have the opportunity to apply your engineering expertise to support facility and infrastructure maintenance, repairs, and upgrades, ensuring that our site meets current and future operational needs. Opportunities within this role include:
Preparing corrective maintenance documents to support facility and infrastructure repair efforts. This includes developing technical requirements such as material lists, sketches, and cost estimates.
Collaborating with end users, union trades, compliance staff, operations staff, and planning organizations to identify, plan, and execute maintenance and repair strategies for site facilities and infrastructure.
Supporting a facility inspection program to evaluate existing conditions, identify gaps, and develop strategic plans in alignment with the site master plan.
Leading engineering efforts for maintenance, renovation, and repair projects associated with facility buildings, structures, and infrastructure systems.
Developing designs and contract specifications, partnering both internally and with subcontracted engineering and architectural firms.
Providing support during the bid and procurement process, as well as offering engineering field support during the construction phase, commissioning activities, and project closeout.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience. Preferred Skills
Experience leading multi-disciplined project teams in the development of design and construction bid documents
Desire to share technical knowledge with less experienced staff
Experience with the development of engineering documents (e.g. engineering analyses, technical specifications, drawing development, functional requirements and costs estimates)

Pay Range
$94,800.00 - $148,200.00 annually Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets.
