Assistant Professor of Strength and Conditioning The Department of Kinesiology at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Kinesiology, with an appointment to begin in Fall 2026. The primary responsibilities of the person in this position will include teaching courses in their general area of expertise at the undergraduate and graduate level. Examples include strength and conditioning courses that focus on principles, measurement and testing, exercise techniques, and program design, as well as personal training courses, among others. This person will also be responsible for producing scholarship commensurate with the requirements for tenure and promotion. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to, and participate in, the life and development of the department, supervise undergraduate and graduate students' culminating experiences (e.g., thesis, project), serve on committees, and participate in the broader university and disciplinary communities. Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate with an emphasis in strength and conditioning by the time of appointment. ABDs are welcome to apply, but must show evidence that the degree will be completed by the time of appointment; Demonstrated ability or potential to provide high-quality undergraduate and graduate education to a diverse student population, including first-generation college students; Developed record of high-quality scholarship appropriate to the level of appointment; Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in teaching, scholarship, and/or service; Demonstrated ability/potential to work collaboratively with colleagues and/or community partners. Preferred Qualifications: A research focus in any of the following areas as they relate to strength and conditioning: 1) sport and athletic performance; 2) healthy aging; 3) special populations such as youth or people with disabilities; 4) sport science. Hold a current Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or similar internationally recognized organization. Potential for developing/obtaining grants and external funding commensurate with stage in career. Record of professional involvement, leadership, or service in the university, state, national, or international professional organizations, commensurate with stage in career.
