Controls Technician

Job Title: Controls Technician 1 Location: Hueytown, AL Pay Rate: $18-$20/Hourly. Duration: 12 months Contract Job Description: Basic Task: Inspect meter and meter leads for damage, cracks, or deterioration before every use Ensure meter lead retractable sleeves are in correct position to cover exposed conductor Ensure meter function is setup correctly for intended use Use approved insulated tools when working on energized parts Use secondary voltage cover up kit to limit possibility of accidental contact Use on a known voltage source terminal to ensure meter is working correctly Apply meter leads on terminal to determine applied voltage Duties: Maintain a safe distance when observing the switching of any high voltage substation equipment Allow capacitors to discharge for an adequate time before beginning work (capacitor banks – 5 minutes) When necessary to open an energized CT circuit, verify CT circuit is properly shorted and grounded before opening Verify absence of current before opening a secondary CT circuit Basic AC & DC electrical system understanding and troubleshooting skills Familiarity with electrical industry / equipment Ability to read/ interpret electrical blueprint/schematic drawings Good writing and communication skills See attached P&C FS PPE Matrix and JHA Job Type: Contract Schedule: 10 hour shift 4 hour shift 8 hour shift Day shift Evening shift Night shift Application Question(s): Ability to read/ interpret electrical blueprint/schematic drawings Experience: Electrical: 2 years (Required) AC/DC: 3 years (Preferred) Inspect Meter: 2 years (Preferred) Work Location: In person
