Endoscopy Registered Nurse - Day Shift Schedule (Hiring Immediately)

Employment Type:Full timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:PostingGENERAL SUMMARY:Provides patient care, through all phases of the Endoscopy experience; admission through discharge according to established guidelines. Provides patient care activities to patients of diverse ages.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Prepares and evaluates patients prior to the procedure in an efficient and caring manner to provide for a smooth patient flow. May include doing pre-procedure phone calls to patients and/or physician offices to obtain information. • Demonstrates the ability to organize work and enhance the safety and quality of patient care, service and treatment.• Proficient in IV skills. • Review charts to ensure completeness in documentation. • Prepares for cases in an efficient manner, anticipating needs of the patient and physician. • Provides a safe environment for customers: patient, family, physicians and staff. • Collects and analyzes data and assesses patient in developing nursing diagnosis / plan of care.• Communicates effectively with the patient, staff, physicians, families, and other health care team members. • Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up and function. • Initiates and directs procedure rooms, clean up and turnover. • EKG interpretation. • Ongoing physiological assessment through all phases of the Endoscopy experience.• Utilize computer software for electronic medical record documentation (EMR). • Actively assists physicians in a large variety of endoscopy procedures. • Takes assigned call as defined per unit policyMINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:• Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa. • Basic Life Support certified within six (6) weeks of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified or obtained within six (6) months of hire.• Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft office products.
