JH Track Assistant Coach
JOB SUMMARY
Co-curricular coaches and advisors in the Raymond School District are expected to challenge each student to meet his or her potential. Staff members will help students prepare to achieve success in both the sponsored activity and the life skills that are taught through such activities. Coaches and advisors are required to address the identified needs of each student as well as the group in such a manner as to engage the students in their learning and progress. All employees are expected to provide and encourage a learning and performance environment that is mutually respectful to both students and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Thorough knowledge of JH track & field program needs, WIAA rules, as well as District policies and regulations governing athletics
Appropriate WIAA State Certification
Maintain current First Aid/CPR Certification
Personal characteristics conducive to working with students and appropriate role modeling
Organizational skills conducive to establishing and maintaining a high level of efficiency in managing a track & field program
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - ASSIST THE HEAD COACH WITH THE FOLLOWING:
Implement, teach, coordinate, and supervise all fundamental aspects of the track & field program
Prepare assigned team for meaningful athletic competition
Establish track & field performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition
Keep current on all rules and regulations regarding JH track & field as presented in WIAA and league handbooks, and within District policies and procedures
Keep current on injury prevention, new knowledge and techniques regarding JH track & field by attending clinics, workshops, college courses, and by reading professional literature
Oversee condition of facilities; conduct and report end-of-season equipment inventory, and care for equipment during the track & field season
Write annual goals and objectives for the program and follow-up with appropriate evaluations and recommendations
Keep the Athletic Director informed regarding all program developments
Check all purchases and send invoices to the Athletic Director
Make sure valid authorization, physicals, and fees are obtained for each athlete
Issue and recover equipment; oversee systematic inventory, cleaning, storing and repairing of all equipment
Systematically review details in Student Handbook with participants and cover all aspects of safety
Prepare and file lesson plans for all practice sessions
Foster and insist on proper actions and sportsmanlike conduct of assigned team on and off the sports arena
Oversee penalties for breach of standards by individual student-athletes
Organize and schedule practice sessions
Provide publicity information that will aid assigned program and athletes
Maintain injury log and accident reports
Attend awards banquet
Perform other duties as assigned
