(DSI) Job DescriptionPOSITION TITLE: Lead CookDIVISION: Early Childhood ServicesSUPERVISOR: Early Childhood DirectorCLASSIFICATION: Non-ExemptPURPOSE:Perform all kitchen duties within the Early Head Start and Preschool programs.KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:Assures all procedures are in compliance with the State Board of Health regulations, CACFP guidelines, Early Head Start and Preschool regulations.Cook and serve all meals per specified menu and time schedule to meet nutritional needs of children in order to help promote school readiness.Prepare meals for parent meetings and other events to help promote family engagement.Prepare PM snack and AM snack for next morning, prior to leaving for the day.Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dishes after all meals and snacksPurchase necessary food items for snack and meal preparationWash and sterilize bottles and nipples for infantsMaintain inventory of kitchen supplies and food items.Attends required/requested CACFP, State Board of Health Early Head Start and/or Preschool training programs.Completes required CACFP, State Board of Health and/or Early Head Start paperwork in a timely manner.Comply with regulatory health requirements, including: providing documentation of an annual physical within 30 days of hire and every five (5) years thereafter; and an annual TB test.Obtain and maintain Serve Safe Certification as required.ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS:Must be able to withstand frequent standing, walking, stooping and crouching.Must be able to lift, carry and move items weighing 5-20 poundsAdheres to all plans, policies and procedures of Bona Vista and Early Head Start and Full Day Preschool.REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to read, write and do basic calculations; High School degree preferred.2 years experience working within a food preparation environmentGeneral knowledge of child development, nutrition, health and safety.Maintain a valid Indiana driver's license, insurance on personal vehicle (minimum of PLPD with medical liability coverage), and maintain insurability as defined by the agency liability insurance carrier.
