The Immigrant Children Advocates Relief Effort (ICARE) is a coalition of legal services organizations committed to providing free legal representation to unaccompanied children at risk of deportation in New York City. ICARE’s mission aims to ensure access to universal representation and protect the rights of vulnerable immigrant youth. For more information or to get involved, visit our website at: http://www.icarecoalition.org.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time hybrid role for a Legal Programs Director, based in New York, NY, with some flexibility for remote work. The Legal Programs Director will oversee and coordinate legal services provided by the coalition, develop and manage programs, and ensure high-quality representation through collaboration with partner organizations. The role involves leading compliance efforts, supervising staff and case management, evaluating program outcomes, and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders and the broader legal community. The Director will also participate in advocacy efforts, contribute to strategic planning, and address operational needs as required.QualificationsExtensive experience in immigration law, including knowledge of deportation defense and working with unaccompanied minors.Program development, management, and planning skills, including evaluating program effectiveness and staff supervision.Strong leadership, collaboration, and stakeholder relationship management skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as experience with advocacy and policy work.Commitment to social justice, and the ability to work empathetically with vulnerable populations.Experience with grant writing and fundraising is a plus.Advanced degree in Law (e.g., J.D.) and admission to practice law in New York State or eligibility to waive in.
