Material Handler
Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Material Handler to join our team. The Material Handler is responsible for moving, storing, and organizing materials throughout the facility, ensuring the smooth flow of production and efficient use of storage space. This role plays a key part in maintaining an orderly workspace and supporting manufacturing, shipping, and receiving operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Load, unload, and move materials to and from storage areas, machines, and loading docks using hand trucks, forklifts, or other material handling equipment.
Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory.
Perform physical and electronic inventory counts as required.
Supply production lines with necessary materials, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries to keep operations running smoothly.
Follow all safety protocols and regulations while operating material handling equipment.
Inspect materials for damage or defects and report any issues to the supervisor.
Ensure that workspaces, storage areas, and pathways are organized and free of hazards.
Collaborate with other departments, including production, shipping, and receiving, to fulfill material requests.
Assist with shipping and receiving tasks, including packing, labeling, and preparing materials for shipment.
Perform routine equipment checks and report maintenance or repair needs.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or logistics is preferred.
Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment (certification may be required).
Computer skills for inventory tracking and reporting.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling materials.
Good communication skills and ability to work well with others.
Physical ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and work in varying environmental conditions.
Familiarity with safety protocols in an industrial or warehouse environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
Experience with inventory management systems (e.g., ERP, WMS).
Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a warehouse or manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and temperature changes.
May require overtime, weekend shifts, or variable hours depending on production needs.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to [X] lbs.
Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
