HR Generalist

Job Title: Senior Human Resources (HR) Generalist Location: Virginia Beach, VAReports to: Matrixed reporting to AOP Chief People Officer and JYI Dir Reg OperationsFLSA Status: ExemptPosition Summary:This position directly supports the daily operations of the human resources function within Jordan-Young Institute. This role focuses on recruitment, employee relations, regulatory compliance, and supporting clinical and administrative staff. The ideal candidate is experienced in healthcare HR, understands the demands of a clinical setting, and can navigate HR challenges with discretion and professionalism. This position operates in a busy orthopedic practice setting, with interaction with medical staff, patients, and practice leadership. This is a 6 month temporary to permanent position.Key Responsibilities:Recruitment & On/offboardingManages end-to-end employee lifecycle from recruitment to offboarding for all clinical and administrative rolesCreates job postings, screen candidates, coordinate interviews, and oversee assigned HR workflows. Develops and updates job descriptions as needed.Facilitates new hire onboarding, deliver orientation, and collection of required documentationCoordinates offboarding for all separationsEmployee RelationsServe as a point of contact and lead for employee concerns, employee and management conflict resolution, and other workplace issues. Prioritize and escalate to HR executive as required.Support managers in administering performance reviews and disciplinary actionsPromote a culture of respect, accountability, and teamwork across the practice and platform Compliance & PolicyEnsure practice compliance with HR-related regulations including HIPAA, OSHA, FMLA, ADA, and applicable state/federal labor lawsSupport the maintenance and updating of HR policies/procedures, employee handbooks, and standard operating procedures Compensation & BenefitsFacilitate the performance review process and coach managers on goal setting, feedback, and employee developmentSupport payroll processes in coordination with other HR members and FinanceAssist employees with benefits enrollment, leave management (e.g., FMLA, short-term disability), and HRIS system updatesContribute to compensation benchmarking and retention strategies for clinical talent Training & DevelopmentDevelop and deliver employee and manager needs assessment and training;Support staff development through training plans, continuing education, and career pathingTrack and ensure completion of onboarding and ongoing staff training modules HR Reporting & SystemsMaintain accurate employee records, including non-provider credentialing and workplace incident reportsGenerates, monitors and presents periodic HR reports on staffing levels, recruiting efforts, turnover, time off, compliance audits, and any other ad hoc reportsUtilize technology solutions to improve practice operations Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, or related field5+ years of HR experience, with at least 2 years in a healthcare or medical practice settingExperience supporting physicians, surgeons, and therapy teamsPHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent certification preferredStrong understanding of employment laws and healthcare HR compliance standardsExcellent communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.Proficiency in HRIS systems.
