Stepdown Registered Nurse - Warren, Ohio

Job Description Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.Join a specialized critical care environment caring for mixed intermediate care patients on the 5th Floor PCU/Stepdown unit, where your nursing expertise in cardiac, neuro, respiratory, and general medicine will be valued. This 12-hour night shift contract opportunity offers 8, 13, or 16-week assignments with every other weekend and holiday scheduling, ideal for nurses seeking focused, high-acuity experience. Navy blue scrubs are required.Key Responsibilities:Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.Administer medications safely, including managing non-titratable drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Lasix).Monitor and care for patients with conditions such as NSTEMI, neuro issues, COPD, CHF, COVID, AKI, and GI bleeds.Manage patients with ventilators and advanced airway support including BiPAP, CPAP, and tracheostomies.Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams, serving as a vital patient advocate and communication liaison.Respond promptly to changes in patient status, utilizing clinical judgement informed by the AACN Synergy Model.Participate actively in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.Qualifications & Desired Experience:Current RN license in the state or compact member state.Minimum 1 year RN experience; 6 months in an acute care hospital preferred.Dysrhythmia Exam required (study guide provided).BLS required; ACLS, CCRN, PCCN, and NIH Stroke certification preferred.Experience with ventilators preferred; education provided for travelers.Familiarity with EPIC EHR and critical care training is beneficial.Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.Unit Overview:This 24-bed unit typically maintains patient-to-nurse ratios from 1:4 to 1:5 depending on acuity. Patient population includes complex, multi-system cases requiring advanced nursing skills supported by a team of CNAs and ancillary staff.
