Head Start Substitute Teacher

JOB TITLE: Substitute CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time (as needed basis) (29 hours or less weekly) FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt OFFICE LOCATION: Head Start Early Child Development Center - Bartow, Gordon, Haralson, Polk General Job Description: Under the direct supervision of the Center Manager, Substitute Teachers will provide direct assistance to the classroom teacher. Duties and Responsibilities Assists with all class activities in absence of a Teacher, according to the appropriate level of each child and in accordance with the daily schedule. Supervise and be responsible for the safety of all children assigned to care. Maintain Center and classroom in a clean and sanitary condition at all times. Assist to maintain classroom order using age appropriate behavior management techniques. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Knowledge,Skills and Abilities: Must be able to lift approximately 50 pounds. Ability to relate well with young children. Great oral and written English/Spanish bilingual skills preferred not required. Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Must have access to transportation. Ability to relate well with other adults (parents, co-workers etc…) Work Environment This job operates in a childcare environment. This role routinely requires interactions with children, parents, noisy and fast paced day to day activities. Requires use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending,kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision,peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
