Whether a planned project or an emergency response, Mersino meets challenges with expertise, equipment, and service.The primary responsibility of the Service Writer is to assist the Service Department in managing, evaluating and executing the daily administrative functions for Branch and Corporate Service teams. In addition, the Service Writer will serve as a working team member and individual contributor to the overall team's success.Typical Duties and Responsibilities:Assist the Service Manager with opening and closing of service ordersEnsure all required documentation, including appropriate check in/out form, is completed properly and uploaded to MDIProvide estimates to customers for repairs and billable chargesWork directly with the Sales team and notify Sales of any potential billable chargesEnsure all billable charges are included on service orders and are invoiced accordinglyVerify all information in MDI is current and correct for all unitsMaintain fleet folders to include service documentation, correct component information as applicable, and current photos of unitsMaintain organization of part information in MDI, including creation of bar codes as requiredComplete and submit appropriate warranty claim forms as required for processingPrioritize and organize repairs to fleet rental equipment, vehicles, rigs, and tractors as directed by Service ManagerEnsure all vehicle inspections are current, and inspection results are uploaded to MDIOrganize and track all field failure reports for accuracy and completion, review with Service Manager as appropriateWork directly with the Purchasing team to ensure all parts are ordered against the proper service order/fleet numberAdhere to applicable company and regulatory agency environmental, health and safety standardsEnsure that The Mersino Way is a guiding document in all daily activitiesQualifications:1-2 years' experience as diesel or heavy-duty mechanicDegree or certificate in diesel or heavy-duty repairs or related field preferredPlanning and organizational skills in handling multiple projectsSpecific Expectations:Excellent internal and external customer service skillsAbility to work effectively with othersAbility to multi-task in a changing environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrongly self-motivated, ability to perform tasks with little or no directionAbility to work a flexible schedule to meet job requirementsStrong time management and organizational skillsRequired intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkwardCareer Path:This position is primarily responsible for the mechanical readiness and the operational performance of pump systems at customers' work sites. This experience will prepare the employee for additional career paths that include, but are not limited to:Foreman or Superintendent: Primary lead responsible for instructing crews and managing complete pump system setups. This is primarily for larger local projects that have multiple pumps and large piping.Regional Superintendent: Travel across the region to implement the larger and high-profile projects as needed and requested by the RVP.Lead Mechanic: Work primarily on pumps/generators in the field and/or the shop.Shop foreman: Hands on working and delegating work of Shop Mechanics and Field Mechanics.Service Writer: Computer focused data entry for Repair Orders and Inventory ControlService Manager: Manage all operations of the Service division for the branch.Project Manager: Manage the setup, operation and financial performance of projects from implementation to completionDisclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
