*POSITION SUMMARY*
The Project Manager – Steel Construction is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and execution of structural and miscellaneous steel projects from award through closeout. This role serves as the primary point of contact between Anco Iron & Construction Inc., clients, general contractors, detailers, fabricators, and field crews, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the quality standards the company has built its reputation on across three generations.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES*
* Manage the full project lifecycle for structural and miscellaneous steel scopes, including erection, connections, decking, stairs, railings, and related iron work.
* Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with superintendents, detailers, and fabrication shops; track steel release, fabrication, delivery, and erection sequencing.
* Prepare, negotiate, and manage subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders; review and process submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
* Own project budgets and cost reporting, including labor tracking, material procurement, and monthly cost-to-complete forecasting.
* Coordinate crane picks, rigging plans, and site logistics with superintendents and safety personnel.
* Lead project buyout by soliciting and evaluating bids from steel fabricators, detailers, and specialty subcontractors.
* Serve as primary client and general contractor liaison, running progress meetings and providing regular schedule and budget updates.
* Enforce site safety programs in partnership with the Safety Department, including fall protection, rigging, and crane safety specific to steel erection.
* Review and interpret structural drawings, connection details, and steel specifications for constructability.
* Manage project closeout, including punch lists, as-built documentation, and final billing.
* Support estimating and bid presentations for future steel work as needed.
*QUALIFICATIONS*
* Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Minimum 5–7 years of project management experience in structural/miscellaneous steel or heavy civil construction.
* Working knowledge of AISC standards, steel erection sequencing, connection types, and rigging fundamentals.
* Proficiency with scheduling software (e.g., MS Project or Primavera P6) and cost management/ERP systems.
* Strong reading comprehension of structural drawings, shop drawings, and specifications.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
* OSHA 30-Hour certification required; OSHA 500 or CHST a plus.
* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for jobsite travel.
*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT*
* Regular travel to active construction jobsites, including exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and heavy equipment.
* Ability to walk uneven terrain, climb ladders/stairs, and wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe boots) on site.
* Primarily office-based with frequent site visits; some lifting up to 25 lbs.

Pay: $88,297.40 - $106,336.65 per year
