Python Data Engineer

About the CompanyWe are looking for a talented and motivated Python Data Engineer to help us expand our data assets in support of our analytical capabilities in a full-time role. This role will have the opportunity to interface directly with our traders, analysts, researchers and data scientists to drive out requirements and deliver a wide range of data related needs.About the RoleThis role will have the opportunity to interface directly with our traders, analysts, researchers and data scientists to drive out requirements and deliver a wide range of data related needs.ResponsibilitiesWrite modular, reusable components to liaise between external sources of data, internal tools and databasesWork with our business sponsors to drive out requirements for data ingestion and accessTranslate business requirements into technical deliveriesMaintain the cleanliness and centrality of the Vitol Python codebase, while adhering to existing designs and coding conventions as much as possibleContribute to our developer tools and Python ETL toolkit, including standardization and consolidation of core functionalityEfficiently coordinate with the rest of our global teamParticipate in Vitol’s Python development community and act as a liaison for our growing business development efforts.Qualifications9+ years of enterprise-level coding experience with PythonComputer Science, MIS or related degreeExperience with Data Engineering and building data pipelinesExperience scraping websites with Requests, Beautiful Soup, Selenium, etc.Oracle / PL SQL development experience including stored proceduresStrong understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, SOA architecturesPast experience working in an Agile/Scrum environmentProficient understanding of peer-reviewing, code versioning, and bug/issue tracking tools.Familiarity with Pandas and NumPy packagesStrong communication skills (written and verbal)Commodities/Energy Industry experience desiredFamiliarity with containerization solutions like Docker and Kubernetes is a plusRequired SkillsPython, Data Engineering, Data Pipelines, Web Scraping, Oracle, PL SQL, Object-Oriented Design, Agile/Scrum, Peer-Reviewing, Code Versioning, Pandas, NumPy, Communication Skills, Commodities/Energy Industry, Docker, KubernetesPreferred SkillsExperience with containerization solutions like Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
