Scientific Program Analyst
National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) Rockville, MD (Hybrid Eligible) Salary: $112,500 - $125,000 per year Full-Time | 40 Hours per Week
About the Opportunity
A-Team Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Scientific Program Analyst to support the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), Office of Strategic Initiatives. This position serves as a subject matter expert providing scientific analysis, project management, stakeholder coordination, and program oversight in support of translational science initiatives, biomedical research programs, and NIH priorities.
The successful candidate will combine scientific expertise with strong project management, analytical, and communication skills to support strategic initiatives, research portfolios, grant-related activities, scientific meetings, and stakeholder engagement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Program Management
Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of scientific programs and strategic initiatives.
Collaborate with scientific staff on project planning, execution, and ongoing program activities.
Track project milestones, deliverables, action items, and timelines using project management tools.
Coordinate with investigators, stakeholders, and program staff on scientific and operational matters.
Assist with funding plans, project budgets, and milestone development for research initiatives.
Scientific Research & Portfolio Analysis
Conduct scientific literature searches using PubMed, Web of Science, and other research databases.
Analyze and summarize scientific publications, research findings, and programmatic information.
Perform portfolio analyses to identify trends, overlaps, gaps, and future research opportunities.
Prepare literature reviews, briefing materials, and scientific summaries for leadership and stakeholders.
Research emerging developments in translational science, drug discovery, and biomedical technologies.
Data Analysis & Reporting
Collect, analyze, interpret, and present scientific and programmatic data.
Prepare reports, dashboards, charts, spreadsheets, and executive summaries.
Develop and maintain databases, SharePoint sites, tracking systems, and reporting tools.
Monitor project performance and prepare regular status reports for leadership.
Analyze grant progress reports and prepare portfolio review materials.
Scientific Communications
Draft, edit, review, and proofread scientific and programmatic documents.
Develop presentations, abstracts, posters, briefing books, meeting materials, and reports.
Prepare communications for researchers, program staff, leadership, and external stakeholders.
Translate complex scientific information into clear and plain-language communications.
Support dissemination of program information through websites and communication channels.
Meeting & Conference Coordination
Plan and coordinate scientific meetings, workshops, conferences, symposia, and special events.
Manage meeting logistics, room reservations, audiovisual support, registrations, and communications.
Prepare agendas, presentations, participant materials, and meeting summaries.
Record and distribute meeting minutes and track follow-up activities.
Support quarterly Principal Investigator meetings and strategic planning sessions.
Website & Information Management
Develop, update, and maintain scientific program websites and SharePoint repositories.
Ensure scientific content remains accurate, current, and accessible.
Manage document repositories and retrieval systems.
Support social media and stakeholder communication initiatives to increase awareness of NCATS programs.
Coordinate with the Office of Communications and Public Liaison on outreach activities.
Process Improvement & Strategic Support
Evaluate program operations, workflows, policies, and procedures.
Develop recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Support special studies and strategic analyses related to research portfolios.
Identify and implement improvements to reporting systems, communication tools, and program management processes.
Assist leadership in tracking organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a closely related biomedical science discipline; or Bachelor's degree with at least three years of specialized experience.
Minimum of one year of experience in biology, biomedical research, translational science, or a related field.
Strong scientific writing and communication skills.
Experience with project management and scientific program support.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of NIH grants, funding mechanisms, Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs), and grants management processes.
Experience supporting translational science, drug discovery, or biomedical research programs.
Experience conducting scientific literature reviews and portfolio analyses.
Experience developing websites, SharePoint environments, and research databases.
Familiarity with stakeholder engagement and scientific communications activities.
Experience coordinating scientific workshops, conferences, or federal research initiatives.
