Barista

Carla Cafe has been serving food to our community of customers since May of 2020. With the opening of our flagship storefront on West 3rd, we will bring the same great taste and quality that we are known for to our coffee and matcha program. As a barista you will need to embrace the care, effort, and craftsmanship it takes to make great tasting drinks while being the face that interacts with customers and brings joy to their day. We are looking for a Barista to prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including various types of coffee and matcha. Barista responsibilities include educating customers on our drinks & food menu, making recommendations based on their preferences and taking orders. To be successful in this role, you should have strong customer service skills and be able to implement our recipes consistently and efficiently. You should be able to work various shifts. High school diploma Perks (1) Free meal and beverage per shift Discounts on merchandise Physical demands essential for the role Stand and walk for long periods: Baristas are on their feet most of the day, standing behind the bar, walking between stations, and serving customers throughout the shift. Squat, bend, twist, and reach for items below waist level or above shoulders: For example, you may have to bend down or reach up to grab items, that may be heavy, regularly. Lift, push/pull, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds: You will be handling bags of coffee beans, containers of cold brew, crates of milk, tub of dishes, trash bins, and kegs. Use of hand: As a Barista you will perform mechanical hand and arm movements, regularly turning, gripping and performing precise actions. You will use your hands all day to ring customers up, combine ingredients to make specialty drinks, and create delicious and beautiful espresso drinks. As needed climb ladders, stairs, ramps and uneven floor and/or surfaces: For example, climb on a step stool to grab items. Ability to smell and taste: You will taste and smell coffee and food, helping ensure quality control for each beverage and plate of food.
