The Software Developer I must have foundational knowledge of software development practices and will use that knowledge to create functional and maintainable solutions to well-defined technical challenges. The software this person creates, as part of the Software Development Team, will enable Mascoma Technologies to meet business needs and maintain a technical competitive advantage in the financial industry.The Software Developer I will take direction from the Software Development Team Lead. This position requires a commitment to quality and attention to detail.Collaborate with the rest of the software development team to design and produce software that meets Mascoma Bank's needs with regard to functionality, safety, and performance.Participate in team planning sessions concerning creation or modification of software.Write automated tests to ensure continued proper functioning of software.Log work, decisions, and other relevant information in team tracking software.Solid understanding of basic software development concepts and practicesSolid understanding of basic networking conceptsExperience with at least one of: Python, Scala, Javascript, or JavaExperience writing software that utilizes REST APIsWillingness to ask for and accept help when needed, as well as graciously provide help when asked and ablegrooming and dress consistent with MB appearance policyBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field preferred (or equivalent experience)Experience working as part of an Agile or some other software development teamMay involve incidental business machine operationsTravel to other Mascoma Bank locations is required for training and occasional meetingsTELECOMMUTINGA remote role is one that an employee can accomplish outside of the standard office environment.
